The Role:

MILK MAKEUP is looking for an Art Director responsible for building and maintaining Milk Makeup’s visual brand experience. Supports Creative Director in high-level concept development and execution of 360 marketing campaigns and programs, from concept to launch and sustain execution across media.




How You’ll Thrive

  • Brand Builder: Partners with Creative Director to develop brand expression in support of brand positioning. Must be proficient in leading concepting, building shot lists and art direction on set. Lead graphic design development for campaigns and brand expression. Must be a video expert, proficient in concepting, on-set direction and video editing. Supports in execution to ensure consistency across all channels.
  • Strategic Thinker: Partners with the Creative Director to develop 360 creative strategy to support business goals. Understands both marketing and creative needs to provide solutions that support brand positioning. Drives integration of art direction and design across all channels including, but not limited to: in-store, gondola, print collateral, event materials, OOH, site, email, paid media, social, and video.
  • Creative Collaborator: Partners closely with Editorial, Marketing, Product Development, and Visual Merchandising teams to develop creative concepts for robust 360 client experience. Partners with production/ops to align on strategy to ensure accurate execution of creative vision.
  • Cross-functional Partner: Builds and maintains relationships with cross-functional partners to ensure strategic objectives are met. Regularly meets and collaborates with various cross-functional teams including Brand & Product Marketing, Ecomm, Social, Influencer and retail marketing.
  • External Partner: Partners with external creative partners Including but not limited to photographers, retouchers, illustrators, CGI artists, and type designers. Manages relationship to ensure work is aligned with brand and vendors are leveraged in effective manner.
  • Inspirational Mentor: Actively work with junior members of the team to make sure that all executions are of the highest quality and adhere to the brand. Helps to educate team in creative expertise and knowledge including art direction, photography, design, typography, print production and video.
  • Skilled Presenter: Represents creative team in a variety of settings: large/small groups, direct reports, managers, formal presentations.



We’d like YOU to have:

  • 5-6+ years of creative experience.
  • College degree; BA or BFA preferred in Graphic Design or Communication Design.
  • Passion for art direction, photography, video, design, typography and social.
  • Proficient knowledge of programs: Figma, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere.
  • Understanding of beauty and fashion.
  • Understanding of photography and knowledge of relevant industry talent.
  • Understanding of current industry related trends.
  • Understanding of design, typography and layout principles, graphics, digital/social best practices and production process.
  • Understanding of video concepting, pre-production, on-set direction, editing, and motion graphics.
  • Knowledge and experience in social space.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and consensus-building skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills; ability to work with a variety of people in various disciplines.
  • Team player: Enjoys working with others and collaborating with a positive attitude.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent presentation skills at both team and leadership levels.
  • Solid organizational skills, detail-oriented; time management skills, ability to juggle priorities.
  • Ability to work in a very fast paced environment and meet very tight deadlines.
  • The drive to excel and succeed; self-motivated.
  • Passion for Milk Makeup, our products, programs, clients, retail and marketing.
  • Some travel may be required.
