The Academic Design Managers works remotely developing an English Language Arts (ELA) program for Kindergarten-Fifth Grade students. This position trains, manages, and collaborates with a team in creating digital content for student and teacher materials and supports the research and design as well as the prototyping and validating of ELA curricular material.

Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position.

Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $68,515 and $90,000 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote.

Envision Your Experience.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Leverage knowledge of curriculum design and research-based approaches to prototype, plan, and manage the creative development of K-5 ELA materials.
  • Coordinate with project managers, academic and other design teams, video production specialists, web engineers, outside vendors, and partner organizations about content, project schedules, and future development.
  • Manage teams of writers, both in-house and out-of-house, as they develop high-quality content for various products under their purview.
  • Work directly with contractors and copy editors to answer content questions, provide targeted or general feedback, and ensure quality or accuracy of materials across builds.
  • Complete detailed analysis of competitive materials and stay current on market trends and shifts.
  • Collaborate with other departments, partner organizations, program authors, and/or vendors to prototype, schedule, and lead the development of specialized builds, production additions, and enhancements.
  • Sustain ongoing projects while managing multiple, complex workstreams responsive to emerging needs.
  • Work with implementation, sales, and marketing to ensure the successful use of the product in school districts around the country.
  • Perform and/or manage periodic content audits in response to customer feedback, sensitivity concerns, and/or other legacy units/items needing updates for quality assurance.
  • Lead the development of standards correlations and other documents necessary for the approval of courses by state departments of education and other clearinghouse bodies.
  • Coordinate professional training and onboarding, as well as oversee communication and processes between contract and in-house staff.

Share Your Expertise.

Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in content area, education, curriculum design, writing, or other relevant discipline and a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience or curriculum development in the relevant subject area and grade level; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to produce quality work in a timely manner.
  • Experience with curriculum design or lesson writing.
  • Experience creating standards-aligned curriculum.
  • Initiative to share ideas, track shifts in pedagogy, and propose concepts for future development.
  • Ability to collaborate, coordinate, and build consensus in a fast-paced, web-based, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience and comfort working with digital education products and other digital tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Zoom/video chatting software.
