    The Council serves to create a pipeline of more engaged young alumni for a lifetime. YACs aim is to assist in the areas of professional development, networking, community service, and philanthropy.

    Within the board, there are six regional representatives who will assist with program planning with their committee members for young alumni living in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia, Greensboro, Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, Raleigh/Durham and…

    Within the board, there are six regional representatives who will assist with program planning with their committee members for young alumni living in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia, Greensboro, Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, Raleigh/Durham and Tidewater/Williamsburg.

    The Council currently consists of three Leadership Council members (YAC Chair, YAC Vice-Chair, and Philanthropy Chair) and six Regional Representatives serving two-year terms.

Founded in 2010, SAWS serves as a resource for the federal agencies, supplementing existing stewardship efforts and providing support where there are none.     Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards (SAWS) is a conservation non-profit dedicated to providing stewardship to protected public lands in the Southern Appalachian region, which includes areas in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. Founded in 2010, SAWS serves as a resource for the federal agencies, supplementing existing stewardship efforts and providing support where there are none. In 2018, SAWS generated over 35,000 hours stewarding public lands, 39 seasonal jobs, and engaged over 100 unique volunteers.
