Innovation News was a news platform that helped organizations bridge the gap between web and print journalism. Stories were contributed online by field journalists and edited by a remotely-located editing staff. Content was exported to Adobe InDesign and Google Earth, where it was transformed into print publications and geographical visualizations respectively.

Innovation News was used at Imagine RIT, an annual innovation and creativity festival on the RIT campus that regularly brings in tens of thousands of visitors. During the eight-hour event, several print editions of the newspaper were published and distributed covering events that happened earlier in the day. In one instance, a story about an opening ceremony was published less then a half-hour after it concluded.

Innovation News evolved over the years under different branding to support user-contributed content and customized print editions of the newspaper, allowing event participants to write and publish stories that were important to them. Show less
