In 2023, Tesorio was recognized as the 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 by the San Francisco Chronicle. One reason: We made space for these three activities: - In-Person Offsites: 🌴 Despite being fully remote, we gathered the entire team 1-2 times a year at a beautiful location. 70% of the time was dedicated to team activities, and only 30% to work. - Bi-Weekly Lunch and Learns: 🍽️ These sessions featured a rotating speaker from different teams, where a team member shared what they were currently working on and what was on their mind. Other employees could ask questions, helping everyone stay informed about what other teams were doing, especially since we often only interacted with our own teams. - Weekly Donut Chats: 🍩 This Slack app paired employees from different teams or departments for 30-minute sessions to help them get to know each other better. Remote culture is possible, but you have to know how. 𝐏𝐒: Of course, there are other pillars of remote culture, which I'll discuss in the coming weeks. Happy Weekend :) #remoteculture #HR #companyculture

As of January 1, 2024, most California employers are required to provide employees with leave for reproductive-related loss. This new law extends bereavement leave, enabling employees to take up to five days of protected leave following a reproductive loss event. Supporting employees through such difficult times can be challenging. Here are some tips to navigate this sensitive issue.

A 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐎 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 recently shared on 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑟 𝐶𝑙𝑢𝑏 𝐿𝑖𝑣𝑒 how 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 during layoffs can preserve trust. While layoffs are difficult, leaders can still 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 by offering outplacement services and mental health support. Outplacement doesn’t just help employees find their next job—it shows them they’re valued during tough transitions. That’s why at Career Club, our 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭™ program is designed to help companies manage layoffs with a 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞-𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡, ensuring employees transition with confidence and care. Aki Ito ah, the supposed demise of the corporate ladder—what a delightful fairy tale! 🚪✨ This article reads like a soothing lullaby for the softly souled who’ve lost their ambition somewhere between the office coffee machine and their latest Zoom call. Listen, I get it; the grind is tiring, and nobody wants to be that poor soul trying to climb a ladder that’s been chucked into the rubbish bin! But let’s be real here: the idea that simply basking in the glow of “work-life balance” will magically land you your dream job is just nonsense. 🍃 If someone thinks spending your days humming “Kumbaya” while waiting for rewards to fall into your lap is the way to go, they're in for a rude awakening! A career is a pursuit, not a picnic. Hard work, ambition, and a relentless desire to climb higher—that’s what great careers are built on, not lounging about like some contented sloth! (Yes, exceptions exist. But, few of them are behind bars too!) So while we throw confetti at the notion of “collaboration over ladder climbing,” here’s a thought: have results taken a backseat to feelings? If companies are creating cultures where mediocrity is celebrated and hustle is vilified, we might just be crafting a workforce of pleasantries rather than pioneers. It’s time to get off the hammocks, roll up those sleeves, and reclaim the rugged pursuit of success—because wanting to rise isn’t the problem; it’s thinking you don’t have to work for it that is. 📈🔥 Tech giants didn’t get there by sitting around sipping smoothies! (though it feels like that at times!) So, let’s stop romanticizing the decline of ambition and start sharpening our elbows instead! PS. I'm heavily caffeinated presently. So, 👊

The California Pay Transparency Act (SB 1162), effective from January 1, 2023, aims to enhance wage equity and transparency within workplaces. It mandates that employers with 15 or more employees disclose salary ranges for job openings, encompassing all positions within the company. This transparency initiative extends to sharing pay ranges with current employees upon request. Additionally, private employers with 100 or more employees are obligated to annually report median and mean hourly pay rates by gender, race, and ethnicity for different job categories to the California Civil Rights Department. This reporting requirement serves to pinpoint potential wage gaps and promote accountability in pay practices. Moreover, employers must maintain records of job titles and wage histories for each employee during and post-employment for up to three years. This record-keeping provision facilitates investigations into pay discrimination allegations, ensuring a fair and equitable work environment. Non-compliance with the California Pay Transparency Act can result in penalties, including fines, for employers failing to disclose salary ranges accurately or report pay data as mandated. Upholding these regulations is crucial for fostering fair pay practices and reducing disparities, particularly those rooted in gender and race.

One of my best friends and I have a running debate on Gen AI and will or won't it replace many jobs ( I am in the doubter camp). Indeed Hiring Lab (the economic research branch at Indeed) did the research and as of today "Hiring Lab’s research finds that while GenAI can help with many tasks, it still cannot completely replace humans in any occupational skills". However, it will continue to evolve and those who know how to use it will have a leg up on those who don't. Key findings: *According to Indeed Hiring Labs possibly as soon as 2026 (that isn't that far away) the share of the workers entering into retirement will be higher than those entering the workforce (variation by country/geography) * To mitigate this a company should consider the below ideas: - Skills-first hiring: consider that skills you really need for the job (do they really need a college degree or how much experience is really required) - Pay Transparency: saves valuable time during pay negotiations (also more candidates apply to jobs that list the salary range) -Today the number one reason people switch jobs is compensation, so consider signing bonuses or other variable compensation - There still is a raging debate about return to office (RTO) but candidates value flexible work options (remote or hybrid) and search for those types of jobs and it doesn't seem to be falling - Benefits matter , so include them in your postings * Indeed Hiring Labs identified more 2,800 skills based on postings and found that only 3% of skills were "likely" (highest rating "very likely")to be replaced by the technology. Skills most likely to be replaced are in fields like accounting or advertising and least likely in-person like cooks or drivers. In fact, Indeed Hiring Lab sees a kind of race between a drop in the labor force participation and Gen AI and other productivity tools ability to fill this gap to keep the economy growing. How are you seeing your company using GenAI or other productivity tools? How worried are you about GenAI taking your job? Are you more worried about GenAI taking your job or not having enough workers? Red to Green HR Consulting can assist you by helping you think about your strategic HR needs both short and long term, including thinking about GenAI. Including discussions around what is your company's philosophy on employees using GenAI? Do you have a policy reflecting it? Do you provide any GenAI training? Are you at risk of not having the right talent to meet your strategic goals? How are you thinking about finding, retaining and growing your talent to meet your strategic goals? Do you know what your employees actually value? If you are interested in discussing how Red to Green HR Consulting can assist you DM me.

Accenture’s report (https://lnkd.in/eng9hqjY) found that being a CHRO is not and should not be just about Human Resources anymore. CHROs are leaders in charge of growth and innovation. They are using the mixture of technology, data, and human insights to their advantage to transform businesses from the inside out. CHROs are now seen as the new growth drivers who reinvent companies with the help of technology and talent. In fact, there are even elite 'High-Res' CHROs who are at the forefront of it all, blending people strategy with data and technology. Surprisingly, only a fraction of organisations are fully enabling their CHROs to lead business growth effectively. It prompts a question for organisations worldwide: Are you ready to empower your CHRO as a growth executive? #CHRO #HumanResources #BusinessGrowth #StrategicLeadership #FutureOfWork
