When I worked in tech M&A and strategy, I wrote numerous case studies for Board meetings on Adobe’s transition from perpetual license software to subscription software. Transitions are hard - they require everyone to be aligned. In this case, 20,000 employees had to move in the same direction. I learned a lot from studying Adobe from the outside, and it was a dream come true to later work at this world class organization as Director of Corporate Strategy, managing the transition strategy from on-premise software to cloud software to accelerate growth of our commerce product. It’s been an amazing journey at Adobe. I’ve learned A LOT, and I’m thankful for Peter Sheldon and Amit Ahuja who mentored me along the way.

I recently made the hard decision to move on from Adobe and am humbled at the opportunity to join Invoice2go as VP, Corporate Development & Partnerships. Invoice2go focuses on the SMB software market for service entrepreneurs (think plumbers, freelancers, independent designers), an industry that has no clear category winner, yet . To be that winner, we’re going through an exciting transformation of our own with a new management team backed by leading investors such as Accel. Not to mention, some big, exciting product announcements coming soon.

Many service entrepreneurs still use checkbooks - some tech-forward ones now use Venmo - but neither of these options provide the required functionality to run a business such as tax management and outreach to customer lists. I've experienced this personally - I recently hired a plumber who typically sends out invoices at the end of a working day, but he forgot to invoice me. I had to actually track him down to pay him for his work! I'm sure that he just wants to focus on his job, not manage accounts receivables and invoicing. Invoice2go is building the end-to-end platform for people like him - entrepreneurs and small businesses who should spend their time on the real heavy lifting and let us handle the boring stuff.

Over 200k small businesses currently rely on Invoice2go to be paid for their services, and we have an ambitious plan to reach many more businesses through the following ways:

1. Partnerships - My goal is to explore partnerships with companies that add value to services businesses, from vertical solutions such as dog walking software to horizontal solutions such as accounting software. 2. M&A - As the new head of corporate development, I have a mandate to accelerate our growth through M&A - whether it’s competitive or complementary - I’ll be looking at a lot of deals. Even if it requires squinting a bit to see the synergies, feel free to send it my way. For the bankers in my network, I'm happy to share our corporate development strategy with you and establish a regular cadence to discuss deal flow.

3. Hiring - We’re aggressively hiring for many roles. Remote works great - or maybe you want to work out of our Australia or San Francisco office - we will meet you where you are or where you want to be. The only requirement is that we're looking for top talent that’s passionate about helping small businesses. Invoice2go helps services businesses and entrepreneurs that drive the global economy. The company is going to look much different by the end of 2021. We’re building Shopify for the services industry, and I couldn’t be more excited about the road ahead.
