  • SEO Jargon File

SEO Jargon File is an opinionated glossary of buzzwords, jargon, slang, and technical vocabulary used in the field of SEO (search engine optimization). The website is online today with an initial set of definitions in place. SEO Jargon File is an opinionated glossary of buzzwords, jargon, slang, and technical vocabulary used in the field of SEO (search engine optimization). The website is online today with an initial set of definitions in place. These include a brief technical definition along with a bit of (hopefully) entertaining discussion of each term which adds to understanding the context, history, and humanity of the art of helping search engines help users find your website, blogs, ideas, and products.

SEOJargonFile.com will include a mobile app version of the lexicon, available as a Universal app on Apple platforms for iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

This is a project that illumineX work on in our spare time, as a demonstration of capability for how we help customers with all aspects of modern software systems. In the initial release, optimized for speed of implementation, the system will support three interfaces to the SEO glossary:

    • Random vocabulary word picker (on the main page)
    • Search the glossary
    • Browse the glossary index

Feel free to share a link to SEOJargonFile.com on LinkedIn or wherever you blog or tweet!

Only a couple dozen definitions in it right now. Gotta write a few hundred more!

  • EyeSpy for macOS

    - Present

illumineX customers occasionally asked us to revive a free toy that we made back in the early days of Mac OS X — remember the cartoon eyes that watched the mouse cursor? They even told us they were willing to pay.

I led a team including Alex Cone and Arlan Titchbourne as well as our lead graphics designer Ednor Therriault to re-imagine the EyeSpy.app product, so that the free toy could support itself with a new monetization model.

I led a team including Alex Cone and Arlan Titchbourne as well as our lead graphics designer Ednor Therriault to re-imagine the EyeSpy.app product, so that the free toy could support itself with a new monetization model.

We built the app all new from the ground up in Swift with a custom designed In-App Purchase store, easy sharing of cartoon characters on social media, and fun new cartoon behaviors to make the toy even more fun to play with. (Try grabbing the character with the mouse and tossing it off the edge of your screen.)

EyeSpy has become a really nice showcase of our commitment to excellence in product design.

If you have a Mac, check it out!

  • iBlogger

    - Present

Our first mobile app for iOS, iBlogger was also one of the first apps on the iPhone App Store in 2008.

We began planning and work on iBlogger in 2005, two years before the launch of iPhone.

iBlogger supported several different protocols for communication with and posting to blogs, and supported over a dozen popular blog / CMS engines.

iBlogger was one of the first apps to use the mobile app + cloud hosted micro services architecture which has become extremely popular.

  • FireBreak Anti-Worm (Intrusion Suppression System)

    - Present

Led a team to invent, patent, and build a novel system for protecting large scale networks from automated worm and bot attacks.

    FireBreak AntiWorm:
    • alerts you to worm outbreaks immediately
    • impedes the rate of worm propagation
    • won't interfere with normal network operations
    • can be easily deployed

In a nutshell, FireBreak AntiWorm reduces unplanned costs from large scale intrusions.

  • VersionX

    -

a system for automatically incrementing project versions in Xcode projects. It's basically obsolete by improvements to Xcode in recent years, but time was it was annoying enough to keep all the different version strings up to date that I made this system to do it automatically based on commit messages. Worked with Objective C projects roughly Xcode 6 through Xcode 11 or so.
