Campaign budget, bidding, and schedule when boosting a LinkedIn Page post

Last updated: 2 months ago

When you create a campaign to boost a LinkedIn Page post, you'll need to set a campaign budget, currency, and schedule.

Posts boosted from the LinkedIn Page are automatically created with three campaign settings:
  • Lifetime budget
  • Maximum delivery bidding strategy
  • Set a schedule with a start and end date

Lifetime budget
Lifetime budget is the total amount that you’ll spend for the entirety of your campaign’s schedule, from start date to end date.
Daily spend during the lifetime of your campaign will vary to maximize impression opportunities and drive the most results for your ads.

For example, you could spend 10 percent of your budget on a particular day and 30 percent on another day, based on the impression opportunities. However, your total spend will never exceed the lifetime budget of your campaign.

Maximum delivery bidding strategy

Maximum delivery bidding utilizes machine learning to automatically bid for your campaign in the ad auction. Based on your campaign objective, our system automatically adjusts your bid to deliver the most key results possible while using your full budget most efficiently.

Set a schedule with a start and end date

Once you set a schedule, with both a start and end date, the spend of your lifetime budget will be paced to optimize results throughout the entire schedule of your campaign.

Total spend

You’ll see an estimate of the total amount your campaign will spend based on the lifetime budget and schedule selected.

Example: If you set your daily budget to $100 and you have a set schedule with a start date of January 1 and an end date of January 31, your spend on any given day might be up to $150. The average spend over the duration of your campaign will be about $100 daily, and total spend for the entire duration of the campaign will not exceed $3,100 ($100/day x 31 days = $3,100).

How campaigns are charged

When you boost a LinkedIn Page post, campaigns are charged by impressions, or the number of times your ad was displayed.

Not all campaign setting options are available when you boost a post from a Page. For more budget, bidding, and schedule options, you can create or edit your campaign in Campaign Manager.
