Make your website shareable on LinkedIn

If you'd like people to be able to share your site's content on LinkedIn, the source code on your site needs to comply with certain requirements. If you're not the developer for your website, we recommend contacting your site's developer and asking them to review the guidelines below.
If you're the developer of your website, you'll need to make sure the source code complies with Open Graph Protocol (OGP) and certain image requirements specific to LinkedIn. Our developer website contains more details on setting display tags for shares (available in English only).

Below are the og: tags that must exist and their correct format:

  • <meta property='og:title' content='Title of the article'/>
  • <meta property='og:image' content='//media.example.com/ 1234567.jpg'/>
  • <meta property='og:description' content='Description that will show in the preview'/>
  • <meta property='og:url' content='//www.example.com/URL of the article'/>
Here are the image requirements specific to the LinkedIn sharing module:
  • Max file size: 5 MB
  • Minimum image dimensions: 1200 (w) x 627 (h) pixels
  • Recommended ratio: 1.91:1

The image specifications for single image ads are:

  • File types: JPG, PNG, or GIF

    • Animated GIF images must be 300 frames or shorter

  • Maximum file size: 5 MB

  • Maximum image size: 7680 x 4320 pixels

  • Image aspect ratios:

    • Horizontal/landscape: 1.91:1 (recommended ratio)
      • Minimum: 640 x 360 pixels
      • Maximum: 7680 x 4320 pixels
    • Square: 1:1
      • Minimum: 360 x 360 pixels
      • Maximum: 4320 x 4320 pixels
    • Vertical: 1:1.91 (recommended ratio)
      • Minimum: 360 x 640 pixels
      • Maximum: 2340 x 4320 pixels

Important to know

Images less than 401 pixels wide display as a thumbnail image.

Here's a tip

Square and vertical images might be cropped when ads are shared organically.

Note: If the image meets the requirements, but it still does not appear in updates on LinkedIn, your website may be blocking us from pulling the image or the image may be located on a protected directory or website.
