On the LinkedIn feed, you can get personalized AI-powered takeaways on posts, go deeper on a topic, and see how to apply the learnings to your job. On a job posting, you can get AI-powered advice to learn more about a role or company, understand your fit for the role, and personalized tips to help you stand out when you apply. Here are some frequently asked questions about AI-powered takeaways on Linkedin.
You can ask questions or start conversations related to the post on your feed or the job post. We’ll leverage generative AI tools to convert your prompt into a search query and may ask clarifying questions to better understand your needs. It will respond by recommending content, courses, connections, or jobs.
You can also directly ask questions related to the job posting. We’ll use generative AI tools to explain certain topics, offer examples and advice, and provide instant feedback.
For some of our generative AI features, we rely on Bing to provide you more up to date information and a more relevant response. Bing is operated by Microsoft and so the part of the Microsoft Privacy Statement that applies to Bing may apply to personal data that you input into generative AI features.
Please review the Microsoft Privacy Statement for more information about their practices for personal data in connection with Bing. In many cases any text you put into an input or question when using one of our AI-powered insights features may be sent to Bing to assist in the search.
If you do not want to send personal data to Microsoft (or Bing) please do not input any personal data in the [prompt] box we provide in connection with our AI-powered insights features.
AI-powered takeaways and advice allows you to ask clarifying questions to better understand your needs and often responds with several content recommendations throughout the conversation. However, since capacity is limited, you may receive an error message when demand is high. If this happens, you can try again later.
LinkedIn will store AI-powered takeaways and advice conversation data for as long as the account is active. These conversations are not shared with other members or their employer.
Your inputs (for example. questions) along with context of related responses, and your member profile will be used by LinkedIn to create prompts for a generative AI response. Our use of customer information is governed by our contracts with customers. At this time, LinkedIn uses Microsoft's Azure OpenAI API service to power the generative AI feature. The customer input will be processed by LinkedIn using the Microsoft service but will not be accessed by Microsoft or OpenAI except by Microsoft in circumstances described here.
Human review of the session and/or your inputs into this feature and our related responses is possible when you provide feedback or otherwise. To build, train, secure and improve the accuracy and quality of this feature and our Services (as defined in our User Agreement) even when you do not provide feedback, we may manually review your input and the responses we provided.

We believe that generative AI (GAI) has enormous potential to transform the world of work in positive ways, and that it can be a valuable tool to enable economic opportunity and help our members and customers be more productive and successful. We have launched and are testing GAI features to create content for, or to be used by, members and customers.
While GAI has been around for a while, it has seen recent improvements in the quality of its output in ways that we believe can help our members and customers be more efficient and effective at some tasks.
You will see that many of our GAI features include a notice that they are in “Beta”, “Experiments”, or “Pilot.” These experimental features are features that are in limited testing– because they may not function correctly or reliably for all our members and customers for their purposes and/or we are testing whether members and customers find them valuable. Accordingly, with these features we encourage you to interact knowing that the interactions, and the outputs they provide, may include some inaccurate, nonsensical, and inappropriate responses.

Our Responsible AI Principles guide us to identify and mitigate the risks of AI in all of our products and AI systems. You can read more on how we have operationalized this framework to address the risks that may come from AI–including GAI–on LinkedIn.
For example, we know that privacy, safety and security are risks associated with the use of GAI. As a result, we’ve minimized the use of personal data in training GAI models by redacting personal data from training data. It’s also possible that GAI may provide outputs that are inaccurate, unexpected, nonsensical, harmful or otherwise inappropriate. To help manage this risk, we look to provide notice that AI is powering these features, and ask that members and customers engaging with the output of these GAI features carefully review any outputs before sharing or distributing the outputted content. We also provide meaningful opportunities for members and customers to give feedback on GAI output.
Under our User Agreement and our Professional Community Policies, members are responsible for the content they post on our services. You should review any GAI-generated suggested content to ensure it is accurate, respectful of others, suitable for your purpose, compliant with LinkedIn’s User Agreement and Professional Community Policies, and represents your own tone and knowledge. We provide contextual prompts in our GAI features to remind our members of this important step in the process of using GAI.
The use of these AI-powered features is optional. You are still able to use our regular search features on LinkedIn.
The AI-powered responses or “outputs” will be based on the inputs that you provide to the AI-powered insights features. We also run AI-created content through our content filters. While we have taken safety precautions, this feature may produce surprises or mistakes. If you use the AI-powered features on LinkedIn, you will still need to review the output for accuracy and make your own decisions as to whether you should rely on the output.
