Changing How Your Name Appears on Your Profile

You can change how your name is displayed on your profile. Your 1st-degree connections always see your full name, regardless of your settings.
To change your name on your profile:
  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Click View Profile.
  3. Click the Edit icon in the top section of your profile, to the right of your picture.
  4. On the Edit intro pop-up window, update your name in the First Name and/or Last Name text boxes.
  5. Click Save.
If you've turned off your public profile you can choose to display your first name and only the first letter of your last name for anyone who isn’t a connection by going to your Settings & Privacy page:
  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Select Settings & Privacy from the dropdown.
  3. Click Visibility on the left rail.
  4. Under the Visibility of your profile & network section, click Change next to Who can see your last name.
  5. Select how your last name appears to others.
  6. Your changes will be saved automatically.
Your connections will continue to see your full first and last name. Anyone who is interested in connecting with you can still find you by using your first and last name.
Note: You can also update the name information you want displayed from your Public Profile page.
