Add a phone number to your LinkedIn account

Add a phone number to help keep your account secure and be able to easily recover your account or reset your password if you have trouble signing in.

Add phone number
We recommend adding at least one mobile phone number to your account as a way to reset your password in case you are locked out of your account. When you add your first mobile number, we'll automatically enable it for this purpose.
Note: Mobile phone numbers added here won't be displayed on your LinkedIn profile.
To add a new phone number:
  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Select Settings & Privacy from the dropdown.
  3. Select Sign in & security on the left rail and click Phone numbers under Account access.

  4. Click Add phone number and enter the verification code sent to your primary email address.

  5. Select the appropriate country from the dropdown, and enter your phone number in the New phone number field.

  6. Click Send code. This will send a verification code to your mobile device via SMS (text message) to confirm that you own this number.
  7. Enter your LinkedIn account password to continue with this change.
  8. Click Done.
  9. On the next screen that appears, enter the verification code you received on your mobile device and click Confirm. You can also click Resend code if you haven't received it, or click Call me with the code to have the code read out to you via a phone call.
  10. Your mobile phone number must be verified before it can be used to reset your account password.
To choose a new phone number to be used for password resets:

Note: You may not be able to remove a phone number if it's been used to establish two-step verification for your account. You'll have to disable two-step verification before you can remove the phone number from your account.
