Product Marketing at Optimizely

Had a great day yesterday at Opti's Experimentation Forum in Amsterdam! Our venue, the Eye Film Museum, is beautiful and full of amazing technology. First, kudos to the global teams for making it happen, especially Justin Vos and Danielle Marshall-Manifold for organizing and executing. Second, shoutout to our speakers: Annemarie Klaassen, Stefano Aprile, Lucia van den Brink ✨️, and Opti's Hazjier Pourkhalkhali. They transfused some great knowledge to us, including the following ideas: ♠ Do it together - Market research shows that collaboration is at the heart of experimentation, and companies are using disparate tools and ad-hoc processes to run their programs. ♥ Narrow to wide - When thinking about solutions to your digital problems, you have to consider both the small "safe" AND big "risky" changes. Gut feelings drive our perceptions of what is safe or risky, and the research data shows that our gut sucks at being right, so just go for it...that's what experimentation is for. ♦ (Over)share - Advertise your program internally like crazy to reach success with your program...it's just another 'enablement' topic. And how do we solve enablement? Great content and repetition. ♣ Bonus tip - Include more variations in your tests! Research data back at it again to prove that tests with more variations provide higher lifts and ultimately win more! Experiments with 5+ variations (ABCDEF) are >90% more likely to win than just 2 variations (AB). I know I just referenced a lot of that "research data", didn't I? I pulled the info from Optimizely's product team research, a few scientific publications on behavioral psychology, and from an Optimizely Benchmark Report that's a few weeks away from being published. #optimizely #abtesting #experimentation
