NIWA 2.0: Embarking on an Elevated Professional Journey! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce a significant change of NIWA’s focus starting from September! Since so many of our members are interested in developing their career, growing professionally, and establishing themselves in Austria, NIWA is embarking on a mission to provide assistance through the following workshops and events: ✅ Career development workshops focused on improving job-searching skills, resume building, interviewing, and other related topics. These workshops will be aimed at both entry-level and experienced professionals. ✅ Professional Networking Events bringing together migrant women, local professionals, and companies in Austria that will foster professional connections and create job opportunities. ✅ Financial Education Programs that will cover topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, and other financial literacy topics that will help women achieve financial independence. ✅ Online Training Courses that will provide access to training and career development resources and cover a wide range of topics, including language skills, computer skills, and other technical skills. ✅ Mentorship Programs that will connect our members with established professionals in their field, provide guidance and support.   The workshops will be designed in a way to support our members not only in securing employment in Austria, but also in building their self-confidence and improving their skills, exploring passions, and establishing valuable connections with like-minded women. We don't forget that having fun is an essential component of personal growth. Therefore, NIWA will still organize various social events such as hikes, picnics, pub quizzes, and yoga classes. What is Generation's long-term impact on people's lives? Every year, we conduct a global research to gain insights into our alumni's employment, income, and overall well-being outcomes 2-5 years after they graduate from our programs. As we kick off 2024, I'm excited to share some important findings from the 2023 alumni report in Latin America! Among those who responded to the survey in Brazil and Mexico: 😊 91% of the graduates are engaged in paid work. Before attending Generation's program, only 8% of them were employed. 👩🏽💻 Most tech program graduates work in a field related to their training (81% of Brazilian graduates and 87% of Mexican graduates). 🏡 91% of the respondents are able to meet their daily needs, and 63% can save money for the future. Among those who can save money, their top financial goal is to improve the quality of their housing. "So, What Makes Gen Z Tick?" Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to represent the HEYA - Higher Education Malaysia Association at the Youth Employment Initiative Networking Event, organized by Kabel and National Career Development Centre Association (NACDA Malaysia). This gathering brought together industry leaders from the world of startups and SMEs, alongside a group of talented Gen Z individuals. The aim was clear : to delve deep into the mindset, values, and aspirations of Gen Z and their approach to life and work. Throughout the panel discussion, I had the privilege of hearing from Sashe Kanapathi (CTO at Leaderonomics), Agnel Raj (Head of Young Talent, Culture and Diversity at Maxis), Lily Chai (Digital Marketing Advisory Associate at Accenture) who shared their perspectives on the evolving preferences of generations. In fact, the discussion around work-life balance versus work-life integration was truly insightful. Here are some key perspectives that we discussed: 🔔 #Gen Z makes up nearly 30% of the world's population. 🔔 #GenZ is now a significant force, constituting 27% of the US workforce population and 24% of the ASEAN population. 🔔 Key factors that have shaped Gen Z's #worldview include (i) the Great Recession, which led to a slow, decade-long recovery; (ii) the Covid-19 Pandemic, during which some watched their parents lose their jobs; (iii) rising non-discretionary expenses such as housing, transportation, food, and healthcare. 🔔 Gen Z desires #diverse and #entrepreneurial opportunities while seeking the #safety of stable employment, and they will remain #loyal to a company that can offer this. 🔔 Gen Z prefers to work in industries that they interact with in their #personal lives, as opposed to industries they aren't frequent consumers of. 🔔 Gen Z seeks to gather a #variety of different skill sets rather than declaring a singular specialization. These perspectives show that there is much more we can accomplish by working together, across generations, to ensure that our #people, #processes, and #technologies are well-aligned to meet the ever-changing market dynamics. We believe that is not just about Gen Z; it's about continuously attracting the #future workforce. A special shoutout to Camelia Loh, Baktiar Hasnan and all the contributors from Kabel for organizing such impactful event. #Together, let's foster #trust across generations and perhaps begin by understanding one another. Speaking as a Gen Z representative, let's not forget to also #understand the generations that came before us and those that will follow. His trajectory echoes the sentiment that the journey matters as much as the connectivity itself. Here's the essence: Beyond Connectivity, It's About Possibilities: Being digitally connected opens doors, but the magic lies in what you make of those opportunities. Juma exemplifies how leveraging connections can lead to unexpected and fulfilling paths. Navigating Change with Resilience: Juma's switch from a career in Architecture to Social Media Management wasn't a mere pivot; it was a testament to resilience.
