What does good leadership look like? Recently, our tech leaders in the Zalando Commerce Platform completed the first stage of a dedicated leadership programme, which culminated in a Leadership Express Summit where they tap into the power of community and collaboration to foster excellence. This skills-based learning journey, sponsored by the VP of Zalando Commerce Platform, Przemek Czarnecki, and designed in close collaboration with our global Learning & Leadership Development team and Tech Academy, not only strengthened leadership capabilities but also nurtured a culture of innovation and growth. The programme featured six modules covering critical themes from Giving and Receiving Effective Feedback, Leading Across Cultures to Decision Making and Systems Thinking. The active participation and insightful contributions of our tech leaders have been instrumental in shaping this transformative experience, and its success speaks volumes about the dedication and passion of our leaders! Simone accidentally sent her Zalando order confirmation to Simon, sparking a connection that led to a beautiful love story. They chatted, met, fell in love, and even celebrated their wedding with a cake shaped like a Zalando parcel! Grüezi from the Zalando Courier Service! 🇨🇭 Together with notime (Schweiz) AG, a subsidiary of Swiss Post, we're testing a new premium delivery option in the greater Zurich area that will give Zalando customers even more control and flexibility over the delivery of their orders. As part of a pilot project lasting several months, selected Zalando customers can choose a 90-minute delivery window after placing their order, so that a parcel is delivered when they are guaranteed to be at home. They can then track the progress of their deliveries online in real time, which are made using small electric vehicles from Schweizerische Post, branded with the Zalando logo. Christoph Lütke Schelhowe, General Manager DACH at Zalando explains how valuable this pilot for Zalando is to better understand customer needs, "With the Courier Service, we offer a tailor-made service for our Swiss customers, for whom a specific delivery time is at least as important as fast delivery. We are therefore looking forward to testing the pilot together with our partners notime and Swiss Post and gaining valuable experience in Switzerland in order to further improve the shopping experience for our Zalando customers." #delivery #deliverysolutions

We recently themed our Design System to give our customer propositions an elevated presence across the Zalando App and Web. In the absence of a proper theming architecture, early attempts and explorations of 'theming' led to solutions that quickly became hard to maintain and posed risks to the overall system stability. In the past, we encountered numerous challenges, including hidden CSS overrides, local conditional logic, debatable API additions, and duplicated implementations. A comprehensive theming solution quickly evolved from a nice-to-have into a clear must-have.
