Mario started his YNHH journey in 2014 as a volunteer, spending time with geriatric patients through the hospital’s Elder Horizons program. He was hired as business associate in 2015 and worked on different oncology units. While working, he earned a BS degree in exercise science and became a rehabilitation associate. With encouragement from his colleagues, Mario enrolled in nursing school and became a registered nurse in March 2022. “I greatly value Yale New Haven Health. I have been able to work through various clinical and administrative positions and have seen the different career opportunities here. I always knew I wanted to help people in a hospital setting, but I wasn't certain in what capacity. The friends I made at Yale New Haven Hospital helped prepare me for my current career, where I couldn't be happier.” To learn more, visit http://ynh.care/5Q.

Yale New Haven Health recently celebrated a significant milestone, caring for our 1000th patient through the innovative Home Hospital program. Former patients Melissa Desmond and Reverend William McCullough shared their positive experiences, emphasizing the convenience and quality of care received at home. The program, launched in 2022, offers acute care services to patients who would otherwise require hospitalization, utilizing a mix of in-person visits and telehealth technology. “It was so much easier and convenient for me and especially my children to receive great care at home. The biggest takeaway for me was being able to be with my family and have the staff right there to answer all my questions,” said former patient Melissa Desmond.
