Tune-in to learn more about the federal health center funding bills that are making it through Congress this week. We encourage support from all our Members of Congress who are consistent supporters of the care and services we offer to more than 1.2 million people across the state.
Community Health Center leaders will discuss the urgent need for lawmakers to pass sustainable funding for the Community Health Center Fund (CHCF) at a virtual news briefing on Monday, September 18th at 1 pm ET. The briefing, hosted by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), comes as House lawmakers are scheduled to consider “The Lower Costs, More Transparency Act” (H.R. 5378) on suspension. The bipartisan legislation: * extends and increases reliable funding at a time when health centers are serving record numbers of patients at 31.5 million people nationwide * funds key primary care workforce programs – the National Health Service Corps and the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education Funding for health centers and these workforce programs will expire on September 30, 2023. Health center leaders will discuss how the uncertainty regarding federal funding is already affecting health centers and creating disruptions in hiring and planning services for patients.
