We were privileged to welcome former U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Richard B. Myers, to our Jupiter headquarters to share stories and insight from his distinguished career. From U.S. Air Force pilot to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to President of Kansas State University, General Myers’s leadership experience spans multiple generations and disciplines.   A Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, General Myers has provided guidance during some of our country’s most important events. As the chairman of the most senior uniformed leaders within the U.S. Department of Defense, General Myers advised the president of the United States, the secretary of defense, the Homeland Security Council and the National Security Council on military matters.   While at Voloridge, General Myers met with our executive team for a special session on leadership – and also engaged in an informal discussion and Q&A with all of our employees.   Thank you for your service General Myers. Meet Software Engineer Oleg Tielushko. Originally from the Ukraine and a University of South Florida grad, Oleg spends his days working on analytical applications that help our strategy managers get the most out of their research. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲?  Every day is an exciting challenge. I enjoy working with intelligent professionals and receiving mentorship from industry experts. Giving back is a keystone of the Voloridge culture. Our team recently participated in Place of Hope Inc.'s 12th Annual Sporting Clays Fun Shoot. This is the largest charity fun shoot in Florida, bringing together over 350 shooters to raise funds for Place of Hope, an organization that supports South Florida children and families in need. They provide a full continuum of care for local foster children, homeless youth, single mothers and human trafficking survivors. Meet Abe, one of our winter research interns. We are delighted that Abe decided to escape the cold and spend a few weeks with us. Our winter interns not only get the rare experience of hands-on learning from some of the industry’s most creative minds, they also get the chance to enjoy the sunshine, blue skies and warm temperatures of South Florida winters. Our research interns spend their time working with deep historical data that spans an expansive universe of trading instruments. We asked Abe to share a bit about his experience… 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.  I was given a very interesting problem with a variety of different potential approaches. I really enjoyed learning about new topics, hypothesizing, and experimenting with code. Everyone here is very kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I can see that they truly care about each other and are working hard to push the company forward. Finally, I had a blast outside of work attending a Miami HEAT game with some of my team, as well as participating in a clay shoot charity event. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿? This internship has been a great preparation for what a full-time career as a researcher looks like. The research team is full of brilliant, hardworking people who are happy to pass on their knowledge and place you in the best environment to succeed. I was given a very challenging problem to solve, very applicable to the types of problems that researchers here tackle daily. From the first day, I received incredible support. I met almost daily with members of the team and was able to discuss ideas I had, receive feedback on my work, and get suggestions on avenues to explore. I learned so much not only about statistical and modeling techniques but also about how researchers think about and frame problems. I feel vastly more prepared for future opportunities.
