Last week, Urban Grid was proud to sponsor and attend the Spring Membership and Networking Event hosted by the South Central Virginia Business Alliance (SCVBA). The evening was full of great networking with individuals and organizations from across the Commonwealth, and featured discussions about #agrivoltaics and EPC’s. Urban Grid is committed to supporting the local workforce for economic impact in communities throughout Virginia, bolstering the mission of the SCVBA and its members, who continue to be strong advocates for renewable energy in the state, to achieve this goal. 

Urban Grid is excited to celebrate World Bee Day today! 🐝 Pollinators, such as bees, are under threat from human activities and civilizations. This is a growing concern for our food security, given that 75% of food crops and 35% of global agricultural land rely on them. Specific agrivoltaics programs allow for solar fields to become a unique habitat for pollinators and honeybees! This is an incredible example of how our industry can help to mitigate some of these concerns. Thrilled to announce our eagerly anticipated #agrivoltaics program! 🌱🐑 Integrating agriculture with solar energy production in our first operational project–Crystal Hill Solar, in Southern Virginia–showcases our dedication to sustainability and innovation. Many thanks to our partners in this endeavor, Jess Gray and Marcus Gray, CWB®, proprietors of Gray's Lambscaping and our hard-charging Asset Management team for this milestone. Their meticulous care of the animals living on our site facilitates local agriculture, enriches land biodiversity, and cultivates a more sustainable ecosystem. 🌿 Grazing sheep on solar farms provides an eco-friendly alternative to traditional land management while offering numerous benefits including: • Reduced need for mowing and herbicides, lowering maintenance costs • Soil health improvement through natural fertilization • Enhanced biodiversity and ecosystem resilience At Urban Grid, we are committed to deploying grazing initiatives across our portfolio wherever feasible. 🌞 Additionally, we're excited to share that we are working towards installing pollinator meadows and apiaries to support bee habitat and honey production, contributing to the preservation of essential pollinators and promoting local biodiversity. 🐝🌸 #communitycommitment #agrivoltaics #renewables American Solar Grazing Association (ASGA)
