We are proud to announce Brig Gen (Ret) Cary Chun is joining TURION SPACE as Vice President of Growth. With a distinguished career in the United States Air Force and an extensive background in space operations and strategy, Cary brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the team. Cary Chun's illustrious career spans over three decades, during which he has held several key leadership positions, including Commander of the 50th Space Wing and Deputy Commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for Space. Most recently, Brig Gen (Ret) Cary Chun comes off a nearly 5-year term as the Executive Director of Boeing Phantom Works Space within Boeing Defense, Space & Security. Chun led a team that is advancing mission capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Intelligence Community. In this role, Chun identified, captured and executed programs for the next generation of spacecraft across multiple mission areas and flight regimes. Excited to welcome Sammy Roberts to our Turion Space team as Senior Software Engineer! With a focus on backend development and a knack for project management and mentorship, Sammy is primed to contribute to our mission of aerospace innovation. Welcome aboard, Sammy!

This past week, we validated controlled slew, pointing, and image timing on our DROID 001 satellite and successfully captured an image of Alpha Centauri. This is a significant milestone in the DROID.001 mission because successfully capturing the target star requires <0.2° of pointing error. Over the past week, we've made major strides in our overall mission efficiency, from connecting and streamlining NEI and SSA data collection to demonstrating our ability to close the CI/CD flow across several teams. This achievement reassures us that we have the backend in place for a 10x volume increase from the prior week, a testament to our project's progress. Great work, TURION SPACE team, building a functioning satellite, an operational C2 platform, and the ground infrastructure running behind the scenes on our STARFIRE cloud-based operating system. The operational ramp-up is far more exciting when each flyby opportunity is on a timer based on relative orbital dynamic physics rather than hypothetical models. #Tech Highlight: Turion Space is automating Non Earth Imaging (#NEI) and subsequent analysis. This includes previewing your NEI with their simulated collection tools BEFORE ordering the real thing from satellites like DROID.001 (NORAD: 56965). Why should the SDA TAP Lab care? Because Turion is integrating their tasking, collection, and processing into automated workflows alongside their #ApolloAccelerator cohort members.
