What began with a boutique in Manhattan and an e-commerce site has since grown into a global business with more than 370 stores across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and Australia.     A shoe within a shoe. That was the original concept for the Pierced Mule and Pierced Slingback when they first walked the runway for Spring 2023 and quickly became TikTok darlings. “The idea was: a thong sandal on a shoe,” said ELIZABETH BENZING, Sr. Design Director, Footwear, referring to the leather toe loop that secures the mule or sandal to the foot.   The structure creates a kind of Matryoshka doll effect with the one shoe nestled in another. And as with nesting dolls, the concept contains multitudes, including the latest iteration: the Pierced Mule Wedge, now in stores and on our global e-commerce sites.   A chic evolution of a bestseller, this slip-on with a rounded toe and expanded cut-out upper nods to The Gilder Center, the sculptural new wing of the American Museum of Natural History and the setting for the Spring 2024 runway show where the shoe debuted. “We really studied the architecture,” noted Ava Zhu, Senior Designer, Footwear, who worked with Tory and Liz on this piece.    Like its predecessors, the Pierced Mule Wedge is detailed with the metal hardware that creates the illusion of a toe ring. As Tory told The Wall Street Journal earlier this year when she included the Pierced Mules on her list of five ‘must-haves’: “Toe rings have never been my thing, until now.” #teamtory #design

    We’re pleased to welcome 15 new members to #TeamTory in Spain. As part of our continuing growth in Europe, we are expanding our business in Spain where we now have five directly owned-and-operated boutiques at El Corte Inglés luxury department stores in Madrid and Marbella with two more stores to open this summer. This builds on our brand’s presence in Europe where we have boutiques in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy and Germany. “Spain will become a major market within the region for our brand with local clientele as well as clientele coming from Europe, the Middle East and Asia,” said Yves COPPIN, President of Europe & the Middle East. As Department Manager Luciana Guarnieri Nunes noted: “We take immense pride in representing Tory Burch as ambassadors for Spain, bringing her name and values to our customers who are already eagerly embracing the brand with joy and excitement.” #teamtory

    Tory Burch unveiled a unique concept store at the Kerry Centre in Shanghai on April 21. The concept features the work of German photographer Walter Schels whose animal portraits appeared in Tory’s Resort 2024 collection. The brand celebrated the opening on April 24 with an event; guests included supermodel and China brand ambassador Liu Wen.   Bringing a touch of Los Angeles to Shanghai, the boutique nods to the brand’s new concept store on L.A.’s iconic Melrose Avenue, which Tory created in collaboration with Humberto Leon. It showcases Schels’s portrait of a cat, mid-meow, repeating on the store façade and on the walls of the interior space. #toryburchanimalhouse #ToryBurchChina #TeamTory

    Three days, 50 women entrepreneurs, 20 guest speakers, 66 mentors. It all added up to one fantastic gathering when last week the Tory Burch Foundation hosted their 2023 Fellows for a series of business workshops, networking events and community building. Among the highlights: a fireside chat between Tory and Foundation President Tiffany Dufu. In a wide-ranging conversation, the pair spoke about the challenges and rewards of growing and scaling a business. “There’s always room for incredible companies and incredible ideas, and there is never a market that’s too saturated if you have a unique vision,” Tory told the group. It was an eye-opening experience all around. For Kristian Edwards, DrPH, Founder of BLK + GRN, an all-natural marketplace with products from Black-owned companies, being surrounded by other women entrepreneurs grappling with similar issues inspired one of the biggest take-aways: “My challenges are not unique,” she said. Now she has a sisterhood of fellow founders with whom she can share ideas and problem-solve. As Tiffany, herself a founder, noted: “I don’t believe any of us can do anything without a group of people who are supporting us along the way.” #teamtory #womenentrepreneurs
