Happy Anniversary to Tomorrow-R1! 🛰️ 🚀 This month marks one year since Tomorrow.io's groundbreaking and historic launch of the world’s first commercially built weather-radar satellite. Tomorrow-R1 was our first successful on-orbit operation and marked the first step in deploying the Tomorrow.io constellation of active and passive weather sensors. This constellation will achieve breakthroughs in global weather forecasting and climate observation, bringing near real-time scans of precipitation and atmospheric profiles for any point on Earth. 🌎 Since our first satellite launch, we have seen and done even more exciting things. Are you ready for this week's weather highlights? ⛈️ ☔ Tomorrow.io's meteorologists have their eyes on notable weather conditions across the U.S. Here's this week's snapshot: 🔹 Eastern US: Virginia to Florida: The week kicks off with showers and thunderstorms. Watch for scattered storms throughout the Carolinas and Georgia. Northeast: After a dry spell, isolated showers may pop up across NY today The region braces for widespread showers and storms from Wednesday through Thursday as unsettled weather persists into the weekend. Florida: Daily afternoon thunderstorms are expected, with an increasing threat over the weekend as a front moves southward. Coastal Winds: Coastal New England could see wind gusts up to 33 mph on Thursday. 🔹 Central US: Midwest to Texas: A broad system will bring showers and potential severe storms across several states starting early in the week. Expect winds up to 50 kts and possibly hail. Winds: Strong south winds hit North Texas early in the week, with widespread gusty conditions across the Midwest. The storm system spreads east through today, affecting states from Missouri to Alabama. Later Week: Showers and storms continue to move eastward with a strong front. Expect significant activity from Michigan to the Florida Panhandle by Friday. 🔹 Western US: Mountain States: Showers and brisk winds affect Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho, with some snow in the higher elevations. Strong winds, reaching up to 53 mph, will dominate the week. Pacific Northwest: Rain and isolated snow showers cover Western Washington, with gusty conditions extending into Oregon. Nevada and California: The weekend brings showers to the Sierra Nevadas, while the Southwest remains hot and dry. Heat Alerts: Southern California and Arizona face an excessive heat watch, with temperatures soaring above 108°F midweek.
