In recognition of their commitment to saving lives, three ThedaCare hospitals and Dr. Laurin Bellg have received prestigious honors from UW Organ and Tissue Donation (UW OTD). ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton, ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah, and ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano were awarded for their outstanding contributions to organ and tissue donation. “Our dedicated team members care deeply about donor patients and their families,” said Sue Broeren RN, Organ and Tissue Donation Coordinator at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah. “We extend our gratitude to families who make the decision at a very difficult time to donate their loved one’s organs and tissue. Those families make it possible for us to have a successful program, and we are incredibly grateful for their compassion for others.” Dr. Laurin Bellg, a critical care specialist, received the 2023 Dr. Donn Dexter Physician Excellence Award for her advocacy and leadership in supporting donor patients and families. Her dedication has made a significant impact on the team and the broader donation community. Thank you to those who maximize the gift of life.

Seven ThedaCare clinics have been recognized for leading the way in protecting children’s health with immunizations. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has awarded its annual Wisconsin BigShot awards to over 200 health care providers for their efforts in protecting children against vaccine-preventable diseases. This award celebrates providers who ensure their pediatric patients are up to date on vaccinations, based on 2023 data from the Wisconsin Immunization Registry. “Childhood immunizations are essential because they can help provide immunity before children are exposed to potentially life-threatening diseases,” explained Dr. Sharon Rink, Pediatrician with ThedaCare Physicians-Darboy. “We believe good health starts early with vaccines to protect children from a host of diseases. It’s a responsibility all of us at ThedaCare take very seriously.” Read on to learn about the four categories of BigShot awards.
