About us
With a rich history dating back to 1916, The Center for Health Affairs serves as the collective voice and leading advocate for 36 hospitals across nine counties in Northeast Ohio. Through its business affiliates, CHAMPS Group Purchasing and The Essentials Group, The Center provides a broad level of professional services to its members. As the nation’s first regional hospital association, The Center aims to enhance the effectiveness of the healthcare community and the health of the communities it serves by providing expertise, resources and solutions to address the challenges facing the region’s healthcare providers. The Center’s efforts focus on areas in which member hospitals and their communities can benefit from a regional approach, including emergency preparedness; public policy and advocacy; finance and reimbursement; community health; and special events. Our mission goes beyond medical treatment. The Lown Institute has named us one of the nation’s most socially responsible hospitals, getting “A” grades for health equity, value of care and outcomes. Of the more than 3,500 hospitals measured in the 2024-2025 Lown Institute Hospitals Index, only 5% achieved top grades across these areas. “Every person – no matter their background, where they live, the color of their skin or their ability to pay – deserves to have the opportunity to live a happy and happy life,” said MetroHealth President & CEO Dr. Airica Steed,Ed.D, MBA, RN, CSSMBB,FACHE,IASSC. “This recognition from the Lown Institute is a testament to the culture of compassion at MetroHealth and to our caregivers’ commitment to lifting the health and wealth of the communities we serve. We are proud to lead by example and drive a national model for how to advance equity and address the social drivers of health that prevent far too many people from reaching their full potential.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/g85USVXk
