The Discovery is proud to announce our completion of the Cambio program, a year-long professional development institute designed to help museum teams shift internal organizational practices to create STEM experiences that are culturally relevant and responsive to Latinx communities.

The Discovery is excited to have had Senator Catherine Cortez Masto visit the museum last week to tour Mental Health: Mind Matters. Her recognition of the importance of the exhibition and the museum’s mission is an absolute honor.

When it comes to making The Discovery an enriching experience, there’s no denying that our Museum Educators play a pivotal role. Among them is Odalys Maldonado who, after joining our team in March of 2023, has contributed greatly to the inclusive interactions with community members we strive to serve on a daily basis. The Discovery is excited to present The Gills Club: Shark Exploration, a free program offered in partnership with the Gills Club on Saturday, June 8th designed to teach girls in 3rd through 7th grades all about the magic of sharks through various hands-on activities. https://lnkd.in/gNbrhHjh

A HUGE thank you to our friends at Reno Running Company for another successful Leprechaun Race. A record-setting number of runners signed up to chase the leprechaun through the streets of Midtown Reno, starting and finishing here at The Discovery! We value our partnership immensely, and can't wait for the 13th annual event in 2025!

Bright and early this morning, The Discovery’s outreach program headed out on its maiden voyage. Over the next five days they'll be taking hands-on science learning all the way to Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Elko, Wells and West Wendover. Last night, our softball team, the Isotopes officially kicked off the 2024 season. We didn't bring home a win, but we sure looked good taking the field and our comradery was unmatched! #teambuilding

A HUGE thanks to our friends at Redwood Materials for providing a campus tour for members of the museum’s staff and Community Connections Committee. Science is at the core of the work happening at Redwood Materials, and The Discovery is excited to see the continued impact of their dedication.

The Biggest Little City is filled with community members looking to make a difference, especially when it comes to the growth and impact of The Discovery. Among them is Ian Cochran, a 4th generation Nevadan whose involvement with the museum’s board of directors is helping us further our goal of bringing science inspiration to Reno and its neighboring areas.
