National Safety Month (#NSM) is a great time to remember the importance of being prepared. This week the National Safety Council is focusing on synthetic opioids like fentanyl, which are a major concern for companies across America. The potency of synthetic opioids and their use in counterfeit pills pose a serious overdose risk to millions of workers. Consider these facts (https://lnkd.in/eSqkmMwH): -7 out of every 10 pills seized by DEA contain a lethal dose of fentanyl. -2mg of fentanyl, the amount on the tip of this pencil, can be enough to kill an average American. Organizations can protect their employees by having naloxone (An FDA-approved medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose) onsite. Naloxone has the power to save a life. May is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. Nowadays, it seems like every day should be focused on mental health awareness! According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 1 in 5 adults in the United States experience some form of mental health episode or illness. And 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness. One certain thing is that mental health does not discriminate! When we look at each other, we can’t tell all that someone is going through because when we come to work, we must put on our "work persona" and brave faces when sometimes we are not ok.
