T-Mobile's CEO Mike Sievert recently gave a commencement speech to the MBA Class of 2024 at The Wharton School, his Alma Mater! Here are four 🔑 lessons he shared: 1️⃣ Take a chance on yourself. When people see you taking a chance on yourself, an amazing thing will happen. They’ll begin to invest in you, too. 2️⃣ If in doubt, reach out. Actively foster relationships and connections you’ve built. 3️⃣ Stoke your successes, instead of fighting your fires. Pay less attention to trying to solve what’s not working, and more attention amplifying what is. 4️⃣ All business basically boils down to storytelling. YOU have the power to connect with people’s emotions and inspire action. Read his full speech and watch the video here: https://lnkd.in/g3Unzai3

T-Mobile is all about shaking up wireless for the good of consumers. Today, we announced a deal to acquire substantially all of UScellular’s wireless operations that will help us enhance competition and give consumers more choices — while also giving them more value, a supercharged network experience and our famous Un-carrier perks. Once complete, this proposed transaction will extend the reach and capabilities of T-Mobile’s best-in-class nationwide 5G network, and competitors will be forced to keep up! It’s a win-win for consumers! https://lnkd.in/dpDAg9zt

T-Mobile's EVP & Chief Communications & Corporate Responsibility Officer, Janice V. Kapner shares some of her top learnings throughout her impressive career! Here's what she had to say ⤵️ In the context of our careers, we often see growth as only MORE or BIGGER...more responsibility or direct reports, bigger scopes or budgets. But I think that is just a portion of what growth can mean... 1. Growth doesn't always mean UP ⬆️ Does career growth mean a promotion? Of course it can. But if that is the only way we think about growth, it may be true only every once in a while, and I believe we can and should grow constantly in our careers. What if growth is pursuing a healthier work/life balance? Or accepting a relocation package so that you can do the work you love in the place where it makes the greatest impact? Or even taking a lateral move to a new part of the business where you can develop new skills or insights? (I personally did this one a couple of times and it changed my POV on so many things! I learned a ton!) 2. Speak UP! 📣 Unfortunately, no one has figured out how to read minds yet! Which means… if you don’t express what you truly think, want, or need, neither your peers nor your boss can help you get it. It takes COURAGE to speak up and be the CEO of your own career. It's scary to say what you need, the direction you wish to head - whether its up, out, left, right or anywhere in-between. But the alternative is for your development to be driven solely by someone else and that risk may not pay off. I can tell you from my own experience, the courage to advocate for myself has made a tremendous difference, and has landed me in a career I love, leading an incredible team at an amazing company. 3. If you don't know you can't grow 🪴 Early in my career, I was pretty uncomfortable with "feedback" and just thought I'd put my head down, work my tail off and I thought that "no news was probably good news" - I was so wrong! I needed feedback and lots of it if I was going to get better, live up to the needs of the business and ultimately achieve my own career goals. The scariest part? I had to learn how to ask for it...and learn how to LISTEN to it. From my boss, my colleagues, and anyone else who saw me in action. Sure, it made me swallow hard at times. But it also thickened my skin, sharpened my skills and gave me clear opportunities to work harder and make things better. Career development and growth will always be a winding road... but I don't know many who are in careers they love... without putting in the work to learn, grow, plan and sometimes travel a road they didn't expect to!
