Insights from Ideas + Action 2024: The Future of Cities! DIALOG is proud to be one of the sponsors of SPUR's annual thought-provoking #IdeasandAction event at The #CommonwealthClub in #SanFrancisco. The keynote speaker, Jennifer Keesmaat, highlighted next-generation infill neighborhoods, emphasizing the importance of collective resource sharing, luxury public amenities in urban planning, and the value of density. Key principles included designing cities with consideration for household costs, dramatically expanding housing options, and using land better! The panel discussion, "Can New Cities Be the Right Way to Grow?", facilitated by Alicia John-Baptiste featured insights from Jennifer Keesmaat, Ellen Lou, and Daniel Rodriguez, and covered the importance of integrating "work" into city designs, promoting sustainable growth along existing infrastructure paths, and carefully planning where cities should and shouldn’t grow. As urbanists, we have the opportunity (and the responsibility) to reshape our cities to be more sustainable, equitable, and resilient. It was inspiring to engage in these crucial discussions. Looking forward to continuing these important conversations as we work towards revitalizing our cities. #UrbanDevelopment #CityPlanning #Sustainability #NewCities #UrbanGrowth #Innovation #FutureOfCities #BayArea
