There are 172 Latino/a investors at funds $100M+ in AUM. With 90 of them are at funds $300M+ in AUM. Meaning, Latino/a investors only make up ~1.5% of total investors at $100M+ AUM funds. How SomosVC is helping close the gap: A large part of SomosVC’s core programming is rooted in increasing and retaining the number of Latinos/as in the VC ecosystem. We have various different initiatives that help with that: 1) Our fellowship program - create opportunities for aspiring venture capitalists to enter the ecosystem 2) Our mentorship program - create opportunities for pre-partner level Latino/a VCs to connect with senior VCs 3) Our Avanza Summit - create opportunities for pre-partner level VCs to network, engage, and learn with their peers #venturecapital #vc #diversity #startup

79% of funds over $100M in AUM have zero Latino/a investors. This is a problem! 450 venture funds have not hired one Latino/a investor. While there is some progress that has been made in the last few years for the Latino community, the vast majority of funds have yet to add Latino representation to their teams. KEY FINDINGS: For Funds $100M+ in AUM… 👏East Coast Rising: The East Coast continues to rival the Bay Area for Latino/a investor representation. 35% of Latino/a investors live in the Bay Area 21% live in New York 6% live in Los Angeles  4% live in Miami The numbers shift even more at the non-partner level with only 27% of non-partner Latino/a investors living in the Bay Area and 26% living in New York. For Emerging Funds <$100M… Miami is up and coming! The highest concentration of Latino/a emerging fund investment professionals is in the Bay Area, followed by Miami. 🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨 SomosVC has released its 2023 Annual Report! Key findings of the report include: 👉 79% of venture funds over $100 in AUM have no Latino/a investment professionals at all. 👉 Gender disparity also persists in the field, with only 24% of Partner-level Latino/as in emerging funds being women. 💪 Latino/a led firms are more likely to invest in diverse founders - 48% of portfolio company founders identify as underrepresented people of color. 💪 Latino/a-led firms in the SomosVC community have played a pivotal role in job creation, with investments leading to an estimated 51,612 new jobs.
