Earlier this week, the State University of New York Maritime College announced its plan to partner with us on a Pay It Forward Fund. This partnership will offer financial assistance and supportive services to students participating in the campus’s Summer Sea Term—a requirement for U.S. Coast Guard licenses that costs about $30,000 per student after financial aid. We look forward to working with SUNY Maritime to address this financial barrier for students, allowing the school to attract more cadets from low-income backgrounds and prepare them for in-demand maritime careers. Denver-based trade school The Master's Apprentice Program has joined our Colorado Pay It Forward Fund! Through this partnership, The Master’s Apprentice students can now access zero-interest loans to help them pay for living expenses as they complete the program’s hands-on, six-week training in electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or plumbing. From Eden, recent graduate and loan recipient: “Enrolling in The Master’s Apprentice was the best thing I could have done. It not only gave me the skills I needed to start a new career, but it provided me with a loan that allowed me to focus on my training without worrying about how I would pay my rent. Now, I have a job that I’m passionate about. I’m not just making ends meet, I’m building a future for myself and my daughters."
