What an honor it was to be part of the Pine Ridge Job Corp career fair! We had the unique opportunity to tour the facility and meet teachers and students in several of the trades offered. From 2005 to 2019, Jason Aschenbrenner, Simon's Ready Mix Plant Foreman in Scottsbluff, NE, served in the US Army. He began his journey as an Army Infrantryman and served his last 5 years as an Intelligence Officer. He was deployed to Iraq twice during his time in the service. When asked how the military shaped him personally and professionally, Jason said, "My time in the military made me a better person and leader. I made some unbelievable lifetime friendships and memories. My team at Scottsbluff Ready Mix is the closest thing I’ve experienced to my time in the military. I enjoy coming to work everyday and seeing these guys and gals be true professionals and excel at what they do." Thank you for your service, Jason. Simon is so excited to share our T-7 road relocation project in collaboration with the Cordero Rojo Mine and Campbell County in our Northern Wyoming region where we paved a whopping 12,964 feet of new pavement! 🛣️ Shoutout to the incredible individuals who made this project a success: Timothy O'Neill led the project, James Jacques was Superintendent, Tim Crosby was Project manager, and Josh Shein was Operations manager. Also, big thanks to Ken Starrett, Hot Plant Operator, and Jason Veggeberg, Trucking supervisor. 🙌 The paving crew, consisting of Martin A. Cervantes, Martin R. Cervantes, Ever Cervantes, Kevin Collier, Ty Helvey, Zane Neal, Floyd Reid, and Josh Zink, worked tirelessly to bring this project to life. 💪 We are grateful for such an incredible team! Simon is so proud of our military members and vets. As we continue to celebrate Military Appreciation Month, we want to recognize Christopher Van Norton, who was just promoted to Transportation Supervisor in Rapid City, SD. Chris served in the Air Force for 6 years. When asked how the military shaped him personally and professionally, Chris said, "Serving in the military taught me invaluable lessons that have shaped the person I am today. It taught me the importance of unity and looking out for one another during challenging times. After the tragic events of 9/11/01, we stood shoulder to shoulder, away from our families, relying solely on each other for support. I also learned the significance of standing up for those who can't stand up for themselves. Serving alongside individuals from diverse backgrounds and differing perspectives, I developed the ability to collaborate and find common ground. Together, we brainstormed and executed efficient plans to achieve our mission objectives. Despite enduring lifelong debilitating injuries, I wouldn't change a thing.
