S&ME has been supporting NCDOT’s ongoing Pavement Condition Survey (PCS) project for four years. Running from January to the end of June, our team evaluates and reports pavement conditions on over 30,000 miles of roads during the 6-month cycle, working from the coast to the mountains across North Carolina. This project helps in establishing a uniform level-of-service for maintenance to maximize the benefit of all dollars spent on roads in the state. Each year, the team enjoys a celebration for their hard work at Blue Ghost Brewing in Fletcher, NC! And as tradition goes, you can always count on pulled pork, brisket, and pie to ring in the festivities. #OurPeopleOurFuture

I was fortunate to present alongside Ryan Frey, head of Harper General Contractors HarperXS Division at the SC Engineering Conference as we discussed lessons learned and best practices from emergency response projects. It was a good opportunity to highlight how engineers and contractors can work together to quickly address challenging situations. Thank you to those in attendance for the great questions and feedback. S&ME Jones, McAden & Associates, LLC #publicsafety #generalcontracting #geotechnicalengineering

Happy National Trails Day! Trails are more than just paths through nature; they are vital threads that weave our communities together. We’re proud to partner with PAL, an organization that improves health and wellness throughout Spartanburg, South Carolina. Together with PAL, we are supporting the Daniel Morgan Trail System, locally known as ‘The Dan.’ We spoke with PAL’s Trail Development Manager, Ned Barrett, and S&ME Office Principal, Bill Schwartz, PE, on our partnership work on a section of The Dan; the River Birch Trail. Our S&ME team provided soil studies, jurisdictional stream studies, permitting, and third-party testing on the project.
