As part of our ambitious North Star goal, RTI is working to learn about the physical, mental and societal impact of the U.S. opioid crisis and increase knowledge of treatment and support measures through The Helping to End Addiction Long-term® Initiative, or NIH HEAL Initiative. Meaningful opioid misuse solutions will need to address health equity and diversity, mental health treatment, and alternative solutions for pain management. https://lnkd.in/du-96aja #RTINorthStar #RTIDifference

Last month, RTI’s Lisa McGregor and Sarah Miller Frazer joined the USAID DRG Learning and SBC Communities of Practice for a joint learning event highlighting RTI’s two recent studies on corruption and social norms conducted in Asia and Africa. In 2023-2024, RTI, in partnership with Besa Global, undertook independently funded research to explore how social norms drive corruption or undermine anticorruption efforts in sector work. In May 2024, a group of more than 40 community members gathered in Julescounda village, situated in Sedhiou District in Senegal, for an intergenerational dialogue meant to break down taboos around discussing domestic violence. Facilitated through the USAID-funded Owod Program and in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Action, the 2-hour, often intense discussion resulted in both men and women agreeing to improve communication and deal more appropriately with conflict in their relationships. This is one of many such discussions held by the project as it works to reduce gender-based violence in Senegal. Learn more about USAID’s work through Owod: https://bit.ly/45cUh0c
