Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) are foundational to the way we operate. This June, and every day, we’re honored to celebrate love and equality and recognize the vibrant contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. Our DEIB theme to celebrate this month, “Pride: It Means More!” places emphasis on how all of us play a role in fostering a culture of empathy, compassion and allyship. Standing in unity with our LGBTQ+ colleagues, customers and communities sends a powerful message that discrimination and prejudice have no place within our workplace and our stores. Together, we can create a more inclusive world. Happy #Pride! 🏳🌈

Members of the Rite Aid clinical team recently spoke with Pharmacy Times on their latest podcast episode, “Community Pharmacy’s Role in Social Determinants of Health.” Amie Stephens, PharmD, director of adherence improvement and client services, Emilee Kennelly, PharmD, manager of adherence improvement and clinical initiatives, and Max Baire, PharmD, manager of clinical health plan solutions, discussed how their work is addressing obstacles that impact health outcomes within communities. Barriers such as transportation access, food insecurity, insurance plans and language barriers affect continuity of care, disease state management and medication adherence. As trusted members of the community, our pharmacists are accessible resources and connected healthcare partners who can provide recommendations and resources to help address challenges customers face in improving their overall health. 🎧 Listen to the full episode: https://ritea.id/3QJGfNu

We recognize the importance of Hepatitis Awareness Month, bringing attention to the viruses that affect more than three million people each year in the U.S. Throughout the month, we’re providing educational opportunities for our pharmacists to learn more about viral hepatitis so our teams can provide even more personalized care to eligible customers. Many infections causing hepatitis – specifically Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B — are preventable by a vaccine and are recommended for all infants, all children or adolescents younger than 19 years of age who have not been vaccinated, and all adults aged 19 through 59 years. Our pharmacists are available to address ongoing health concerns and can provide counsel on protection against relevant viruses. Learn more: https://ritea.id/44BQb0Z

At Rite Aid, we’re committed to nurturing a culture where everyone is valued, respected, and accepted — where our associates feel valued for their authenticity and the diverse skills they bring to their roles every day. As we mark #AAPI Heritage Month, we’re honored to highlight the rich culture, history, and invaluable contributions of our Asian American and Pacific Islander colleagues. Our Director of Portfolio Finance, Monish Punjabi, is a trailblazer in his own right – moving from India to the United States at 18 years of age to build a life for him and his family. Monish’s unique perspective, shaped by his experiences in both Western and Eastern cultures, enriches our team and through his leadership, he embodies the values of diversity, equity and excellence. "As a leader with an AAPI background, one of the most fundamental core values I bring to my current job or any job in the future is that there is no substitute for hard work. The time I was brought up in and the time we live now are materially different, so having the best of both worlds (Western and Eastern) has allowed me to look at things from a variety of perspectives. It has also allowed me to have an open mind and to have conversations in a meaningful manner that can help influence change and innovate how we do things. I’ve always been an ardent supporter of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and will continue helping within the communities and workplaces I serve."

Stop by your local participating Rite Aid the first Wednesday of the month, beginning today, May 1 through August 7, to receive immunizations you need to stay safe and healthy. April marks Stress Awareness Month, and at Rite Aid, we recognize the role stress can play in the overall health of our customers. As a reliable community resource, our pharmacists are specifically trained on scientifically proven tactics, supplements and medicines that can help you manage and reduce the impacts of stress. Summer Kerley, GVP Pharmacy Growth and Clinical Programs provides three tips to start implementing into your daily routine to effectively reduce the impacts of stress: - Exercise: Find an activity you enjoy to help boost your mood, be active and spend more time outdoors. - Get enough sleep: Getting the proper amount of sleep is critical for recovery and emotional and physical well-being. - Set goals: Focus on what you can control and prioritize responsibilities and tasks for the day, while setting limits to not take on more than you can handle. Customers can talk with their local pharmacist, who can provide valuable insights into lifestyle changes and recommend over-the-counter remedies to help them manage stress and achieve whole health for life.
