About us
Qureator’s Microphysiological Systems (MPS) known as Curiochips, are designed for recapitulating the complexity of tissue microenvironments, thus providing ideal microscale 3D cell culture conditions. The company was formerly known as Curiochips and changed its name to Qureator in 2020. Qureator is headquartered in San Diego, California. Qureator, a biomedical company, focuses on the development of novel platforms and high-throughput disease models for precision medicine in areas of high unmet medical needs. The company provides Microphysiological Systems (MPS) which enable investigators to perform co-cultures of multiple cell types in 3D and high-throughput screenings for biomedical research and drug discovery. The company also offers a variety of patient-derived in vitro models in organs-on-chips which closely recapitulate the pathophysiology of diseases. These models can be efficiently applicable to target identification and compound screening, especially in the areas of fibrosis, oncology, angiogenesis, ocular disease and vasculogenesis. The company has multiple collaborations with pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions for assay development, safety evaluation, and drug discovery. Conventional preclinical testing has faced a problem in that the results do not correctly reflect and anticipate the drug effect on the human body, which results in significantly increased cost and time of drug discovery and development. Academia and industries have endeavored to solve this mismatched preclinical testing for human drug treatments over the last several decades. As a result, several in vitro testing platforms such as 3D cell culture, organoid, bioprinting, Microphysiological Systems (MPS) and Organ-on-a-Chip technologies have been developed. Although these approaches have comparative advantages toward specific purposes, we concluded that the Organ-on-a-Chip technology is the most appropriate one to mimic human model systems and evaluate drug candidates.

Qureator's tech & expertise is yet again recognized in Nature publications! Our CEO, Kyu Baek PhD, and our CTO, Prof. Noo Li Jeon authored this Nature Reviews Bioengineering paper, along with Prof. Ko of Gachon University, colleagues at Seoul National University, Samsung Medical Center, and the U.S. FDA. #MicroPhysiologicalSystems #OrganOnChip #Curiochips #HTS #Microfluidics
High-throughput microfluidic 3D cell culture systems provide valuable non-clinical testing tools. In their Review, Noo Li Jeon Jihoon Ko et al discuss how microfluidic devices can be designed with different biological complexity, cell sources and cell configurations, as well as physiological parameters to mimic human tissues. They also examine standardization, scalability and automation strategies, and outline high-throughput data generation and analysis approaches to interpret readouts of microfluidic 3D cell culture models! We are thrilled to announce the Nature Communications publication using “angiogenesis-on-a-chip” to understand the spatial regulation of new blood vessel growth. This multi-institute work reveals functional differences between stalk and tip endothelial cell biology. The corresponding author, Professor Noo Li Jeon, is the Chief Technology Officer here at Qureator, Inc. and co-inventor of the Curiochip technology. Congratulations to the entire team! #MicroPhysiologicalSystems #OrganOnChip #Microfluidics #TissueEngineering #LabOnaChip #BiomedicalEngineering #Angiogenesis #Autophagy #Curiochips #SingleCellRNAseq

Announcing the recent publication by Dr. Kyung Sung and Dr. Johnny Lam of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research at the FDA in collaboration with Qureator, Inc. This second publication in the collaborative series is another example of how the high-quality engineering in Qureator's Curiochips enables reproducible 3D cell-based assays!! An evaluation of pro-angiogenesis potential was developed for use as a potency assay for Mesenchymal Stem Cell-based products. #fda #msc #celltherapymanufacturing #organonachip #ischemia #woundhealing
