Approach your job search like a Product Launch. See the Big Picture and Find Where You Fit! I work with leaders often on how to position themselves properly in the market and not only make their profile/resume work for them but appeal to people you may want to hire. I always stress the importance of viewing the job search process as if you were launching a business or a new product. In this case, the product is you, and the business is your career. Applying marketing principles can help align your "go-to-market" strategy with potential employers—those companies that need your unique talents. I found these questions can be incredibly relevant when managing your job search. It's a great exercise to help you understand your value proposition and how your talents—the "product"—fit into your target market.  Ask Yourself These Five Key Questions  1. Who Are Your Customers?  Identify Your Target Companies: Pinpoint those companies that would benefit most from your skills. Create a profile of the type of company that would need your talents. This is crucial for focusing your job search. Then ask who in your networks may be connected to these businesses.   2. What Services Do You Provide?  Market Your Skills: Think of your services as your marketable skills. Do your skills align with the needs of your target employers? Make sure what you offer matches what those potential employers are looking for and bring those skills to the forefront in your resume and LinkedIn profile.   3. What is Your Value Proposition?  Stand Out in the Marketplace: Ask what sets you apart from your “competitors” in the job market.  Identify the unique talents and skills that differentiate you from the crowd. Ask people who know you well what they think? Creating this brand for yourself is key to standing out and capturing the attention of potential employers and later people you may need on your teams.   4. What Environmental Trends Are Important?  Understand Industry Changes: Consider how your industry is affected by changes like new regulations or economic factors, and how your skill set can address these changes. Think about the environment you need to thrive—salary expectations, company culture, managerial style, and other job fit prerequisites.  5. What Three Things Are You Doing to Support Your Strategy?  Develop a Marketing Strategy: Identify at least three actions you can take to align your expertise with your target market. Expand your networking, connect with decision-makers, and position yourself as the solution to their needs. Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Taken! Above all, be yourself. Authenticity is your greatest asset. When you present your genuine self, you’re more likely to connect with companies and teams that resonate with who you are. This makes the job search process more enjoyable and ensures that if you get the job, you’ll enjoy working with the people around you. Feel free to share this with your network!

The Story Behind PATH2: Why the Name Fits Us. Since announcing our rebranding and new partnership last week, I've been overwhelmed by the positive responses. People have been reaching out, saying how much they love the name PATH2 and how it seems to fit perfectly with what they know about me and our journey. So, I thought I'd share the story behind it! Choosing a name for our rebrand was no small task. I wanted something that encapsulated our journey, our values, and our vision for the future. One day, as I was reflecting on my career and the incredible relationships I've built, the name PATH2 just clicked. Here’s why: 1. A Journey of Two Decades: Stephen and I have known each other for nearly 20 years, and our professional paths have intertwined in such meaningful ways. PATH2 symbolizes the journey we've taken together, from our first meeting to our current partnership, and the exciting road ahead. 2. Two Minds, One Vision: Our new venture brings together two distinct perspectives, skills, and strengths. Stephen and I complement each other, much like two paths converging into one stronger, unified direction. PATH2 represents this powerful synergy. 3. Second Chances and New Beginnings: In our personal and professional lives, we often find ourselves at crossroads, seeking new directions. PATH2 is about embracing those moments of choice and change. It’s about taking that second step, finding a new path, and creating opportunities. 4. The Focus on Relationships: As many of you know, relationships are the heart of our business. PATH2 embodies our commitment to building and nurturing connections. It's not just about the destination; it's about the journey we take together, helping each other along the way. 5. A Personal Philosophy: On a personal note, PATH2 resonates with my belief in continuous growth and exploration. It is a reminder that it is okay to take another path, another opportunity to grow, and another way to make a difference. PATH2 is not just a name to us. It reflects our shared history, partnership, and future. It’s been incredible to hear from so many of you who feel that PATH2 "fits" us perfectly. We are excited to continue our journey with you, creating value, fostering relationships, and always exploring new paths together. Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to the exciting road ahead with PATH2! We can help you make the best of the potholes you encounter along the way.

Changes are afoot at JPEG Executive Search.  We are excited to finally announce our new adventure.   I founded JPEG in 2009, after 20 years doing both executive search with search firms and internally with innovative companies like ETRADE, United Healthcare and Livongo. JPEG was built on a principal belief that business should be based on relationships not transactions.  I have been a trusted partner in the startup sector since 2009, connecting top talent with innovative companies to drive industry growth.  I have helped companies across the healthcare continuum grow and exceed performance goals by finding hundreds of executive leaders. From the beginning, I have taken immense pride in the deep relationships that I have formed and maintained. And I am grateful for those partnerships.     In the spirit of partnerships, I realized it was time for me to grow and stretch. I am adding a partner to the firm, adding new services offerings to benefit our clients and candidates. With this growth also comes change. It was time to change our company name. JPEG will now be known as PATH2.    The decision to rebrand stems from our commitment to evolving alongside the ever-changing needs of the healthcare industry.  PATH2 aims to reflect our dedication to guiding both clients and candidates on their journeys to success, with the continued focus on Relationships, Not Transactions. This rebranding also marks the introduction of an innovative new service offering, designed to provide comprehensive solutions that address the diverse talent needs of our clients.    Stephen Decker has joined PATH2 as my business partner. With over two decades of experience as a respected leader in health care services operations he is now a certified professional coach. Stephen brings unparalleled expertise to our team. His addition will enable us to expand our services, offering tailored leadership assessments, executive coaching, and advisory services to our clients, positioning us to further help the people and companies we serve.     Peg (Olson) Peat Olson Peat, Founder at JPEG Executive Search, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter as PATH2, and I couldn't be more honored to have Stephen Decker partner with me on this exciting adventure. His wealth of experience will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional value to our clients."     Stephen Decker shared his excitement, saying, "I am honored to join PATH2 and contribute to its continued growth and success. Together, we will leverage our collective expertise to innovate and provide unparalleled service to the healthcare sector."     PATH2 is committed to delivering exceptional talent solutions and driving success for our clients in the healthcare industry. Please check out our new website! Path2. And say hello to Stephen Decker, Leslie Tester, Sonnie Aiken, MPH - the amazing team!

Differentiating your firm can be a struggle in a business where you are the product. Our firm has some exciting changes to be announced in early 2024 so I have been giving these things lots of thought. People I meet often say they feel like a transaction in the hiring process. This is a problem. Never treat a client or individual like a transaction. It is so rewarding to me when an individual I just met takes the time to tell you why you are unique or even post an unsolicited reference. This email from a CHRO completely made day yesterday. Peg, It was such an immense pleasure to speak to you today. Your approach truly stands out from the sea of recruiters that I've met and I hope you never change. I've drafted a few bullet points for you on how you and your firm differentiate from other agencies and recruiters, I hope you find this helpful as you work to set to differentiate with your new brand coming in 2024. -Puts the "human" first in HR -Relationship oriented and not transactional. I don't feel like a "trading card" of talent. -Proactive and serves to elevate the talent that is in search for an opportunity. -Personalization - takes the time to understand the unique needs of each organization and individual. Feels bespoke rather than casting a wide net. -Engaging - both in listening and speaking to both the organization and the individual. -Lives the values of servant leadership -All of the above clearly translates into delivery and results.  ... And yes - I was able to draw these conclusions just from our conversation. Thank you for your time. JH
