Average up? Most investors are familiar with averaging down on a losing position to lower the cost basis, but what about averaging up? If you own a high-flyer like NVDA, AAPL, or MSFT with a low cost basis, consider buying more shares at higher prices. The purchase will raise your cost, but you'll retain your gain. For example, if your cost basis for 100 shares of NVDA is $10 per share and you buy 100 more at $122, your average price jumps to $66, but you still have a profit of 85%. Average up!
