Do you know the hidden cost of furnace operations that are not carefully audited? Early in the furnace campaign, furnace operations are often ignored. Your team is too busy focusing on emergency repairs in an older furnace. But while your attention is diverted, your young furnace is quietly spiraling toward the next emergency. Refractory wear is accelerating as the glass temperature is raised above the necessary level to eliminate defects. These temperatures are also harming boosters and electrodes. Don’t forget the foam collecting on the glass surface, reflecting damaging heat onto the superstructure. Cooling is not working properly in some areas, causing that wear to be uneven. The batch moisture is not sufficient, and that dry batch is blowing against your regenerators.
