For the first time in history, Pacific oyster shells now line one of the most prominent bays on the East Coast. In partnership with Madison Bay Seafood and Wittman Wharf Seafood in Maryland, Pacific Seafood contributed millions of Pacific oyster shell to the Chesapeake Bay as an effort to restore the local public oyster fishery. According our partners, most Chesapeake Bay oysters are exported out of the state, meaning most shell doesn't return. Oyster shells are necessary for spawning and growing new oysters! With the new addition of Pacific oyster shells, the Chesapeake Bay will see new oyster life within 18 months. Thank you Madison Bay Seafood and Wittman Wharf Seafood for funding this effort. We look forward to seeing new oyster growth within the bay!

Pacific Seafood believes in supporting the communities where we live and serve! Despite it being a rainy afternoon, our Newport Fish Peddler team members walked in the 65th annual Newport Loyalty Days & Sea Fair in Newport, Oregon this past weekend. Our team members did not disappoint, dressed head to toe in fish taco, crab, and shrimp costumes! The parade is all about supporting the Newport community and the numerous veterans and active duty military members who live there.

This Earth Day, Pacific Seafood is proud to announce our 2024 Sustainability Saves initiative. Pacific Seafood is dedicating this year to reducing energy consumption and promoting energy-saving behaviors across our more than 40 facilities in the U.S. and Canada. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, total U.S. electricity consumption in 2022 was 4.05 trillion kWh, the highest amount recorded and 14x greater than electricity use in 1950. We believe even the smallest energy-saving action can make a huge impact in protecting this vital resource.

Meet Dan Occhipinti, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer of Pacific Seafood, provider of the healthiest protein on the planet, and one of Oregon’s leading food manufacturing companies with more than 3,000 team members and 41 facilities throughout the US and Canada.     Since joining the company in 2014, Dan quickly made his mark, earning a spot on the Portland Business Journal's “40 Under 40” list. Over the last decade, Dan has served as a strategic partner to Pacific Seafood’s CEO and Board of Directors, and has been instrumental in driving the company's vision, strategy, culture, and growth.      Dan has a servant leadership mindset, viewing his role as one of removing barriers and empowering team members to think big and achieve great things -- from opening new operations that support thousands of rural jobs and more than 600 independent fishing vessels, to opening new sales channels that provide millions of pounds of West Coast seafood products to schools and food programs across the country.       Dan has also helped Pacific Seafood focus on being an employer of choice in the community, earning recognition in Oregon’s Healthiest Workplaces, selected as a Top Workplaces USA, recognized by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a Pollution Prevent Award, and sponsoring more than 1,000 charity and community organizations.      Congratulations to Dan and the Pacific Seafood team! Join us in celebrating Dan on April 18th at the 2024 Executives of the Year Awards: https://lnkd.in/gcUp3xG4
