Her commitment to equity has been a consistent theme throughout her career, with significant contributions in her former roles as Assistant Director and Director of Student Services, where she worked tirelessly to bridge gaps in educational outcomes. A mentor to aspiring Latino leaders and an active member of educational affiliations like ALAS, Women Leading Ed, and our own district's DEI committee, Anna Marie's impact extends beyond our schools. What's the one word you'd never expect to hear in the same sentence as a career fair? "Magical." That's the word teachers used to describe their experience at our first SD308 Open Interview Night. They left with smiles on their faces, saying things like "it was fun," "everyone was so nice," and "principals gave me feedback." It was a joy to see them laughing, talking, and sharing - words we don't often hear in discussions about public education. Our investment in student teachers paid off in a big way. They shined with the extra support from our new program, Aspiring Teachers Academy. Thank you to the efforts of my partners in crime Sarah Lau (really the brains behind it all) and Bryan Zwemke as well as the SD308 Principals, TOSAs, and Human Resource Department.
