To promote education accessibility and equity, Boise State University offers 4 zero-cost textbook certificates. These certificates cover areas like social media creation, #UX design, and more. Many #BoiseState instructors also use #OER to keep their courses current and relevant for students. "I chose to use no-cost materials over a traditional #textbook because I didn’t want cost to be a barrier to learning. It gives me the freedom to offer materials that are current and relevant to the industry trends, to the students currently taking the course, and to the broader, current social conversations," explained assistant professor Dr. Sherena Huntsman. https://ow.ly/hIZS50S8JO8

"I have taken courses at Central Connecticut State University with professors who use open educational resources, and I have found that it is much easier to engage with open educational resources than with expensive, often confusing textbooks. Professors can present open educational resources in a more understandable and straightforward way than a textbook purchased at a university bookstore." In this powerful op-ed, Central Connecticut State University student Andrew DeCapua shares how he faced academic setbacks as a result of not being able to afford required course textbooks — and advocates for #OER as a viable alternative that promotes student affordability and success. Thank you for sharing your story, Andrew! https://ow.ly/10a550S2nAj
