Updates

  • We’re staying green and winning gold at Olivia Hospital & Clinic! We recently earned our second Greenhealth Emerald award from Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to environmental stewardship in health care. This award honors organizations that have shown commitment to improving environmental performance and advancing sustainable practices. And it’s not just us! HealthPartners earned 18 awards organization-wide, including its 10th consecutive Systems for Change award, and all eight hospitals received awards for showing dedication to sustainable practices. “A clean environment is an important foundation for health and well-being,” says Allison Egan, HealthPartners sustainability program manager. “These awards reflect the dedication, passion and support we have at our organization as we work to keep sustainability at the forefront of our efforts to move the health care industry forward.”   Visit our news release to learn more: https://shorturl.at/rif0M

  • Our surgery colleagues recently hosted a group of fifth graders at the hospital, giving them an insider's view of the surgery center. The students were fully engaged as they explored everything from pre-op to post-op, guided by nurses and surgery techs. "Allowing them to interact in our surgical setting opens a door to a new profession that might interest them in the future," says Baily Fischer, RN. "Our surgical setting showcases many different roles and career options." Last year, Olivia colleagues had visited the school, where students dressed up as surgeons as part of a math unit. To reciprocate, they invited the fifth graders to experience the surgery center firsthand.

  • Naomi Freyholtz, a nurse at Olivia Hospital & Clinic, recognizes the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis, especially for those in rural Minnesota. Many patients faced long journeys, high transportation costs, and unfamiliar environments when seeking treatment. However, with the recent expansion of cancer care services at Olivia Hospital & Clinic, we've made significant strides in simplifying and making treatment more affordable for our patients. Previously, patients had to travel elsewhere for infusions after consultations at our clinic. But now, they can receive comprehensive care, including infusions, right here on our campus. The proximity of care has brought tremendous relief to our patients, as noted by Naomi. Oncology Clinic Manager Carly Kubesh also highlights the positive impact of reduced travel time on patients and their families, lessening the burden of transportation. Moreover, our commitment to innovation in patient care continues. We're actively working to streamline appointments, reducing the number of visits needed for our patients and their families. “I think we’re all affected by cancer at some point in our lives,” Naomi says, “so it’s an honor to be able to give back and make a difference.”
