Yesterday, we rallied at City Hall Park to fight back against the harmful shelter restrictions. The 30-day and 60-day shelter limits on adult and young adult asylum seekers will raise street homelessness, cost the city billions of dollars, & open the door to chaos & confusion. We can make NYC stronger by: ✅Passing Int. 210 to put an end to the shelter limits. ➕Expanding CityFHEPS eligibility to households regardless of immigration status. 🇭🇹On Saturday, the NYIC and Columbia County Sanctuary Movement hosted a Haitian Flag Day celebration and resource fair in Albany. Community members enjoyed Haitian cuisine, received critical information and community resources. ✳️ICYMI: TPS status was extended and redisignated for Haiti through Aug. 3, 2024 allowing Haitian nationals who has been in the U.S. since November 6, 2022 and do not have permanent immigration status in the country are eligible to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which would allow you to live and work legally in the U.S. for as long as Haiti is designated a TPS country. #community #resources #albany #haitianflagday
