New World Symphony

Today marks 80 years since D-Day. Anilore Banon's sculpture Les Braves stands on Normandy's Omaha Beach to, in the artist's words: inspire and remind us that together it is always possible to change the future. Our 2024-25 season features a series of performances inspired by the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the end of World War II and the Holocaust. From MTT’s The Diary of Anne Frank to Britten’s War Requiem, we'll showcase composers who found inspiration in history’s darkest moments, using their talents to advocate for peace, reconciliation and remembrance. NWS Top 15 of the 2023-24 Season! ✨ At number 13, we look back at the Cello + Dance Concert, an NWS BLUE Project, where Cello Fellows Kamila Dotta and Hana Cohon put their entrepreneurial skills into practice. Dancers from Miami City Ballet, Golden State Ballet, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami and NWS Cello Fellows brought an unforgettable evening of music and movement, performing works by Richter, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel, all arranged for cello ensemble. 🎻 ______________________ ¡Los 15 mejores momentos de la NWS de la temporada 2023-24! ✨ En el número 13, recordamos el Concierto de Cello + Danza, un Proyecto NWS BLUE, donde las becarias de cello Kamila Dotta y Hana Cohon pusieron en práctica sus habilidades emprendedoras. 🎼 Honoring Black Music Month with a powerful excerpt from our world premiere performance of “History: A Wind Symphony” by Mary Lou Williams. Last season, our annual I Dream A World Festival celebrated the legacy of Williams, who devoted herself to aiding musicians in need and teaching younger generations about jazz's rich heritage. Our staff wrapped up a great season by reflecting on achievements and challenges, setting new goals and committing to provide the best experiences to our Fellows, donors, and audiences. The New World Symphony envisions a strong and secure future for classical music, redefining and sharing its traditions with as many people as possible.
