Big shoutout to our incredible volunteers, Rachel and Brad, from our Coppell and Prosper branches! 🌟They teamed up with Grace Bridge to support disaster recovery efforts after the recent tornadoes and storms. Meet Lacarlton, a recipient of our 2024 Neighborhood CU Foundation Scholarship! In his video submission, Lacarlton sheds light on the crucial link between managing personal finances and overall wellbeing. He brings his points to life with research data from multiple respected sources, clearly illustrating how being financially literate empowers people. According to the National Institute of Health, understanding finances can significantly enhance personal empowerment and security! Lacarlton explores the deep connection between financial challenges and mental health, highlighting a study done by the Financial Health Network. This study found that individuals in lower-income brackets are 1.5 to 3 times more likely to struggle with mental health issues compared to their wealthier neighbors! He also discusses how ongoing financial troubles can lead to serious mental health problems like depression and chronic stress. This fall, Lacarlton will continue his academic journey at Methodist University!
