Did you know that farm owners in Iowa received $73.4 million in 2022 alone from solar projects? A recent report from the Center for Rural Affairs highlights how solar projects haven't just delivered substantial land lease payments, like those in Iowa, but have also generated 147,000 rural jobs. It's a win/win all around. Best of all, this informative piece from pv magazine USA breaks down how using a small fraction of Midwest farmland for solar energy could meet significant renewable energy goals by 2050. It's one of the many reasons Navisun is excited to be expanding our reach throughout the region. If you're looking for an experienced developer and owner-operator developer like Navisun to partner with, that can cover the upfront costs for the landowners, we'd love to hear from you!

Earlier this month, Ember released an energy analysis highlighting that for the first year ever, renewable energy sources generated 30% of the globe’s electricity in 2023 — 23% of which came from #solarpower. Navisun is proud to be contributing to the consistent and continued growth of the renewable energy industry and we look forward to making an even bigger impact in the months and years ahead.

Navisun just wrapped up three great days in Chicago at the Midwest Solar Expo, where we engaged with premiere players in the industry about our Self-development efforts as well as our Co-development initiatives. Illinois continues to be a high-priority market for Navisun and we appreciated the opportunity to speak at length with folks who are very entrenched in the Prairie State. We also obtained updates on the community solar initiatives in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Iowa – all key midwestern markets we also continue to track. Thanks to everyone who took time out of their days to meet with John Stroud, Nathan Knapke, and Mike Vittiglio this week. We look forward to continuing our discussion and seeing those of you who will be attending the CCSA event next month in Denver.

Agrivoltaic solar projects are on the rise across the country, and for good reason. A wave of federal tax credits, grants and loans – compliments of the Inflation Reduction Act – are making solar power a more and more compelling choice for landowners, especially for farmers who want to keep farming but find themselves struggling to keep up with rising fuel and electricity costs. The USDA awarded about $465 million in grants through its Rural Energy for America Program in the agency’s fiscal 2023, with the average amount of a grant at roughly $150,000. But taking advantage of the subsidies can be tricky. This is where working with an experienced developer and owner-operator like Navisun that knows how to deliver on complex projects is especially beneficial. Are you looking for a partner who can help navigate the increasingly complex solar landscape? Please don't hesitate to reach out! #agrivoltaics #solar #renewableenergy #cleanenergyincentives

Last week, Navisun COO Stephen Campbell, PE sat on a panel at Solarplaza with fellow panelists from Akuo, Primergy Solar, CleanCapital, and Duncan, Weinberg, Genzer & Pembroke, P.C. (DWGP) to discuss how asset managers are integrating #ESG considerations into their work. At Navisun, we want to ensure that we’re not just talking the talk, but also walking the walk. To do that, we put tangible action plans together to actually hit ESG goals across more than 100 MW of operating projects, another 35MW that are under construction, and more than 300 MW in the pipeline. The way this industry becomes sustainable is to make our business case sustainable. So, how can we consistently deliver on what we’re promising? That was the focus of Stephen’s contribution to the conversation on Tuesday, and part of why he considers #Solarplaza one of the best conferences of the year. “As an industry, we need to remember that these projects need to deliver environmentally, socially and financially for 40+ years. Solarplaza focuses on that and curates a lot of discussions about how to be better owners – not just developers. That’s why my colleague Carlos Ortiz and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We got a lot out of it, and I’m not just talking about the baseball game (though that was fun, too).” Thanks for having us, Solarplaza, and to all who came to hear the panel on Tuesday. We’re already looking forward to next year!

These are exciting times at Navisun! Our team is back from this year's Infocast conference in Phoenix with a lot of energy. We had three days of in-depth discussions around topics like the rapidly evolving markets for tax equity and debt, the latest challenges and opportunities in DG, and ongoing work to structure innovative co-development partnerships that will fuel more growth for both our partners and us. Another key point of discussion was the start of construction on our first project in Illinois – which kicked off today – with a pipeline to follow, both self-developed and through a great group of partners. Thanks to all who attended. We're looking forward to a great year ahead!
