Earning your Advanced Safety Certificate (ASC) helps you support your organization, take action, and prioritize #WorkplaceSafety. Katelan Shirk, NSC Business Development Consulting Manager, recently earned her ASC to help #KeepEachOtherSafe. Here’s why: “My aunt rolled off a mountain and my dad/step-dad does ISO 9000 and 14000 audits, while having a thirty plus year career at Union Pacific Railroad, from the janitor to the rail yard to project managing territory expansions. Everything safety related was reminded to me growing up and now that I’m an adult, safety has a firm place in my sub-conscious. At NSC I have the honor of helping so many people and organizations live a safer life and become models for others they interact with from the workplace to anyplace. I am able to share and continue nurturing my deep sense of responsibility to be safe and to keep others safe.” The ASC brings safety professionals together to advance their knowledge through a nationally recognized program. Register for upcoming courses, including the June 20 Incident Investigation, June 20 Risk Assessment Workshop, June 24 Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene, June 24 Safety Inspection, June 25 Team Safety, and July 1 Ergonomics courses here: https://lnkd.in/g_TB7AYq.

In the U.S. each year, thousands of people lose their life on the job, with the latest data showing 4,695 preventable workplace deaths occurred in 2022. To help curb this deadly trend, NSC launched #WorkToZero in 2019 with funding from the McElhattan Foundation. This initiative is focused on educating employers on technological safety enhancements that promise to reduce and ultimately eliminate deaths in the workplace. NSC is proud to announce it has received an additional $3 million grant from the McElhattan Foundation to further support the program to increase employers’ adoption of life-saving safety technology and eliminate workplace fatalities by 2050. #WorkplaceSafety.
