Cho, thanks to the generosity of the Northern Trust Purchase Prize at EXPO CHICAGO. “The Museum is delighted to bring this extraordinary piece into its collection,” said Margaret Andera, Senior Curator of Contemporary Art. “The sculpture’s pearlescent materiality—Cho’s source materials, her use of pewter—evokes dialogue about consumer culture, the environment, and obsolescence. It will be an exemplary complement to both the contemporary art and design collections.” “Thanks to Northern Trust, EXPO CHICAGO, and Fragment Gallery for providing the Milwaukee Art Museum with the opportunity to invest in emerging artist Michelle S. We’re excited to announce we will be one of three recipients for the Northern Trust Purchase Prize at EXPO CHICAGO 2024, alongside High Museum of Art and Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. A work will be selected from the EXPOSURE Section, which is dedicated to emerging galleries from across the globe aged ten years or younger. Northern Trust will purchase the chosen works for accession into the Museum's collection. We made the list of the top 40 most vibrant art communities. 💪  Coming in at 18 (just ahead of Chicago), Milwaukee was identified within the top 20 communities by SMU DataArts (National Center for Arts Research), the national center for arts research.
