Michigan residents don't have to hit the road for long before realizing 2024 is shaping up to be the "summer of the orange barrel." Following decades of underinvestment and voiced frustration from taxpayers, roads and bridges are finally seeing many of the improvements they've long needed. In MDOT's newest video news release, State Transportation Director Bradley C. Wieferich addresses the concern and frustrations he’s heard from taxpayers who feel all construction is happening at once. "We're hearing from drivers saying they wanted the roads fixed, but not every road at the same time," said Wieferich. "Like you, I and the other men and women at MDOT drive these roads and confront these same delays, but we're committed to improving infrastructure in the state of Michigan." https://lnkd.in/g43PpYUf

Congrats to all the Troopers of the 145th Trooper Recruit School! During a ceremony in Lansing, Col. James F. Grady II, director of the Michigan State Police (MSP), administered the Oath of Office to the graduates who begin their assignments at MSP posts across the state next week. Of the 54 troopers, 10 are former cadets making up the largest group of cadets turned troopers to date. The cadet program was built to serve as a pipeline to recruit school, to get young adults familiar with the MSP and the policing profession and to support them through the process. Three. Free. Weekend. That's right, this weekend you can go fishing, take to ORV trails and enjoy access to state parks without needing a license or recreation passport. While licenses and recreation passports are important to funding the projects and places that mean so much to us as Michiganders, it's nice to have a little "trial" of outdoor activities to enjoy during the summer. We hope many of you use this weekend's opportunity to get out and try something new! More info on what to expect or some suggestions on what to do can be found at https://bit.ly/4aP7GMU
