Transit-oriented, mixed-use apartment complex Somi Parc is officially open in #OurCounty. The new housing project features 172 units with family-oriented and state-of-the-art amenities, including 80 units of workforce housing catering to individuals earning 60% to 80% of the area median income.

In honor of #EarthMonth, #OurCounty celebrated its 42nd annual Baynanza Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day, bringing thousands of volunteers together to clean marine debris and litter along the shorelines. 

In honor of #DogTherapyAppreciationDay, #OurCounty honored former Miami-Dade Animal Services shelter dogs turned certified therapy dogs. They serve our community as elite K-9 officers of MDPD and MDFR, goodwill ambassadors dedicated to providing comfort and spreading joy everywhere they go.

#OurCounty’s Miami International Airport is getting some major upgrades! The unprecedented investments include $7 billion in capital improvements and $1.7 billion in maintenance upgrades at Miami International Airport to help the airport get future-ready.

#OurCounty unveiled a large-scale solar installation at the Metro West Detention Center. The new rooftop array will reduce approximately 880 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year and produce enough energy to provide at least 24% of the building’s annual electricity use, saving the county and taxpayers thousands of dollars.

#OurCounty has been upgraded to a Class 3 community in FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System. The investments made to achieve this will keep residents safer, and the upgraded rating will provide a 35% discount on flood insurance premiums for qualifying residents.

Members of the Miami-Dade State Legislative Delegation and the Board of County Commissioners held a productive joint meeting to discuss critical priorities for the upcoming 2024 Legislative Session, addressing issues impacting our community such as transportation, housing, the environment, and more.

#OurCounty has broken ground on Phase II of VOX Miami, a transit-oriented student housing development adjacent to the South Miami Metrorail station. It will help enhance connectivity for area residents and businesses for safer accessibility to jobs, stores, and schools. 

Thanks to a public-private partnership, #OurCounty celebrated the grand opening of two newly completed affordable housing communities, which will serve low-income seniors and mixed-income residents in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
